Evening Walk. This was posted on May 6. I went for a walk around the waterfront one evening, and managed to get so many beautiful photos. Especially of the sky! Sunsets make the sky so much more colourful. I posted more photos on Evening Walks.
Cherry Blossoms. This was posted on May 8. I had been seeing lots of pictures going around of cherry blossom trees. They’re such beautiful vibrant flowers! The last time I had seen them in person was during our trip to Sydney last year. In Katoomba, on our way up to see the Three Sisters, we stopped by a street that was filled with these trees and flowers.
Hey! So I’ve seen this post idea floating around for a bit, most recently with Natalie and Georgia. I like the idea of doing one every now and then (maybe an end of the month thing), as coffee dates are good for a catch up right? Also, you guys will know by now that I’m a joiner. I love joining in with whatever fun things are happening. Just look around, and soon enough you’ll see me, creeping closer and closer (in a hopefully friendly way) asking if I can join in 😀
First off, let’s set the scene. I like sitting in mushy couch chairs so I can get comfy. I also like having a table so I can use it for said coffee. I also like sitting across from who I’m talking to, so there’s no awkward constant head turning.
Now, for the drinks. I am fond of every single frappucino in the world. Even if it’s freezing weather. You guys order what you want.
Okay, here we go.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this past month has been really good. Blogging has been going great. I’ve made a ton more blogging friends, as well as continued to learn more about bloggers I’ve known for longer. I’d tell you about how fun and exhausting that 30 Day challenge was. But that it made me search for more challenges to do, and I may have a problem. I’d also wonder why my follower count keeps climbing higher and higher, as it does confuse me. I’m super proud, but also, you know, where are you guys coming from? Some have just followed without liking any posts or commenting..that really confuses me.
If we were having coffee, I’d let you know that I’m still kinda bummed that we didn’t get that one house. Blogging friends, non blogging friends, Rory and family have said that we’ll get something better and not to worry. But I was liking the idea of owning our own place, of paying mortgage rather than rent, so our money can be going towards something we really want. I will say that I’m excited to check out more open homes though, see what else is out there.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m already so sick of winter and it hasn’t even officially started. June is the official start and I’m already over it. It’s going to get colder, wetter and darker. I hate that the sun sets just after 5, and that when I finish work at 5.30, it’s already getting pitch black. Bring back the sun!!
If we were having coffee, I’d show you more wedding and honeymoon photos because I literally can’t stop showing people them. I’d also let you know that I’m beyond excited for the rest of our photos to come through either next month or July. We’re going to get hundreds, and it’ll be like reliving the day all over again through high def pictures. Plus it means I get to make it into an album of sorts!!
If we were having coffee, I would also mention that I am worried I’m getting sick. I can feel my energy draining sooner at work than normal, and at the end of the day I’m more shattered than usual. I’d let you know that as much as I love the babies and toddlers I work with, I wish they wouldn’t accidentally sneeze and/or cough in my face. I’m doing my best to stay healthy, but my immune system can only do so much.
If we were having coffee, I’d ask about how your month has been. What things you’ve been excited about, things that could have gone better, and what’ll be happening for you in the next month.
After our chat I’d ask if you also want something to eat, because I have been staring at their wall of baked goodies and I can’t resist any longer.
Looking forward to our next catch up at the end of June!
Snapchat – My username is angwool, I believe. I only really use it to play with filters and send weird pictures. I will include one of my favourite snaps that I have saved. Now its on the internet forever.
Goodreads – This has been great for storing all the books I eventually want to read
I think that’s everything. I do have a YouTube account, but I haven’t got any videos, you just have to have one to be able to watch things now. I may also have a Linked In? But who on earth uses that?
So yeah, that’s online me! That’s also the end of the 30 Day Blogging Challenge! What a rollercoaster, it has been a lot of work to do these, but I’m proud I got through it! I’m pretty good at planning and scheduling, so I have had these last few days ready since the weekend. I’d love to do another similar challenge, but I might wait till July. Just so I don’t stretch myself too thin XD
Hello all! I did more baking this weekend. I was originally just wanting chocolate chip cookies, like I have previously made. But then Rory suggested adding peanut butter. Peanut butter and chocolate is an amazing mix! I have halved the recipe as usual. You can find the original recipe here.
Let’s start baking!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/4 cup softened butter (55 grams)
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tbsp maple syrup (I didn’t have light corn syrup)
We are halfway through the challenge! We’ve been through A-L and we have landed on M. M is for Misfits.
Now, I’ve only watched the first three seasons, after that too much of the main cast is gone and it’s not as appealing to me. To be honest, I started losing interest during the third season, but I stuck it out. The first two seasons however are outstanding!
Here’s the premise. A group of ‘misfits’ are rounded up for different reasons, they have been put together randomly to do community service. They are all unique characters, all with attitude and indifferent to the others. During their time picking up rubbish together, a weird storm appears. Seriously weird. Lots of ginormous hail balls and crazy clouds. Then they get struck by lightning. From there on out, we discover that they (and a lot of other people in town) have developed superpowers.
Welcome back to the blogging challenge, we made it to Day 29, Maggie and Cheila! One more day to go in the prompt! Day 29 is about my favourite social media sites.
So, there’s only really a few social media sites I’m active on. That’s my blog, right here, where you can always find me as I never seem to leave. This is my top favourite, I’ve been on it for the least amount of time, but it has become the best social media site for me. I love everything about blogging, and I can see myself continuing to do it for a long time.
The other is Instagram. I love sharing photos (obviously, since my blog is heavy with them), which is why I love this platform! I normally only post once a day, usually with a recent image that’s been on my mind, or something as I reminisce and look through old pictures, I’ll post one of those instead. I normally do this during my lunch break at home. Also, I love looking through everyone else’s photos!!
So technically, I got up at 7. But I just chilled in bed and read blogs for a few hours. We got up past nine. During breakfast, Rory watched Rick and Morty, and I started doing some colouring. Then we started laundry. The weather is drab and grey, so we had to leave it inside with the dehumidifier. It was a nice, slow morning. We looked at some open homes for tomorrow, and decided on a few to check out.
At 12, we decided to go get groceries. It was pretty busy, we normally go a lot earlier.
We got back and had lunch. The weather got more grey, but I decided to go for a walk to the library. I kept putting it off all week, so I decided to finally just go. I got After You, I also wanted a few other books but they weren’t available. I did manage to also get Buffering by Hannah Hart though. I haven’t read any biographies since Tina Fey 😀
After that, I did more colouring and finally finished a page in my new Mandala colouring book. I really like it!
So this post is a little random, the idea popped into my head because I was thinking about all the latest songs that the kids at my centre have been interested in. We love to sing songs. A lot. The songs often go in and out of popularity, but they’re all catchy, and I will come home inevitably singing or humming some earworm and getting it stuck in Rory’s head. So I thought I would share with you guys, the current popular songs going around my centre.
As always, there are the usual songs that are popular.
Wheels on the Bus is great. There’s lots of actions, and recently, one of the 14 month old girls has worked out how to do the “Shh” noise, so she always wants us to do the song.
Row, Row, Row Your Boat. But with the crocodile ending of course, because what one year old doesn’t love screaming.
Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is also huge right now. We love to do the actions, and the kids love wagging their finger as we say “No more monkeys jumping on the bed”
So New Zealand is a bicultural (or multicultural really) country. The Maori language, Te Reo is often used in the centre. We have lots of key phrases we use, and do our best to incorporate songs and prayers in Te Reo during out day to day activities. These include Tutira Mai, Ma is white (Colours), One Day a Taniwha, etc.
Currently, our toddlers are obsessed with Poi E. A kiwi classic, all in Te Reo. I recommend you guys watch the song. I have always loved it myself. Plus look at all the 80s fashion!
One particular little boy will swing his pois around like projectiles, and we have to move him to his own area so he doesn’t hit his friends as much. Our pois are soft, as they’re made from cotton and plastic, but he swings them fast enough that his friends get annoyed when he accidentally swings it into their face. For those wondering what a poi is, it’s featured a lot in the clip. It’s a small ball attached on the end of a string which is used a lot in Maori dance and culture.
