Hi guys! So I thought I would start updating you guys on my weekends. Often, there’s not too much going on. But I’ve gotten into the habit of making a list of things I want to get done in the weekend, but a lot of it never happens. So at the end of my weekend recap, I will show you said list and we’ll see how I did πŸ˜€

Busy Saturday

We got a fair bit done on Saturday. I spent my usual morning in my comfy chair, catching up on blogs as I always do. During this we also got the laundry done, unfortunately the weather is gray and cold so we had to leave it inside.

Then we did our usual grocery run. As a sidenote, I really dislike when people leave their trolleys anywhere in the carpark.

Why would you do this? Is it really that much harder to just take your trolley back to the bay..

After that, we headed out to Petone to go to a cafe I have heard a lot of. Comes and Goes. It’s on Instagram a lot, and it looks amazing! I’ve been wanting to go there for a few months but I kept forgetting.

Not my picture, but doesn’t it look cute?

We walked in and they were packed! So we left our number and they said they’d call us when the next table opened up (it’d be a half an hour wait).

We zipped off to the Warehouse in the meantime to get a present for Mum for Mother’s Day, and for Dad for his birthday. I really wanted to get him some kind of mug. He’s a serial coffee drinker, and I thought that I would get him a cool mug. The Warehouse let me down. I did get chocolates for Mum, as is our tradition.

Rory looked online and found a mug at a gift store called Acquisitions which looked good. Then we got the call that our table was ready so we went off to have lunch.

Comes and Goes is amazing! It’s a very minimilastic look, so it’s quite chic. The menu is small, but everything looks amazing, I definitely want to come back and try something else!

We were by the window, so we got to people watch
I automatically spotted the waffles option

For drinks, I had a hot chocolate, Rory had a Hakanoi Chai Latte.

For food, I had the Waffle Bacon Banana.

Rory had the Ramen.

I definitely plan to return another day!

We headed off to Acquisitions and found the mug we were searching for! It was perfect! They giftwrapped it for me, and we headed off to my parents place.

We caught up and talked for a while. It was nice to catch up, Mum and Dad both really enjoyed my blog post about Dad. Mum has got thousands of grapes and feijoas from her garden which she has turned into jam, and smoothies. We played a few rounds of UNO, where I lost every round.

Mum told me she saved some jam aside for me and Rory πŸ˜€

Freezer full of jams

I also took a few pictures around the house, we have lots of photos on display. I want that for our own future home πŸ™‚

Can you spot the wedding invite? ;D

For dinner, we had a combination of salad and garlic bread made by Mum, and Pizza made by Pizza Hutt, and chips from the local fish and chips shop. It was a big spread.

We reminisced and chatted more which is always nice. I then asked Mum for her selfie stick as I love to mess around with it. Here are only a snippet of the photos we took.

After dinner, Mum made some grape smoothies for us all! We also Skyped with Jo and Tibor up in Auckland.

During this, we did the cake deal, and presents. This has become a tradition of sorts. Dad really liked the Tiki mug yay! We made a good call πŸ˜€

Rory helped with the candles while I ran around taking pictures for no reason
Dad has often says ‘Let’s go on a little Tiki Tour’. Such a kiwi πŸ˜€

It was a very nice evening, and I always love these little family get-togethers. Our next one will be in June, for my brother’s birthday. Fun fact, my family’s birthdays all follow in month. Dad is in May, Andrew is in June, Mum is in July, Jo is in August. I am alone in December.

Also, I forgot to say, I bought something else while we were at the mall. I stopped by Glassons and fell in love with this wool/linen blend jumpsuit. It’s so soft and comfy and I don’t ever want to get out of it, but it’s technically sleepwear, so I can’t leave the house in it (but I want to).

Less Busy Sunday

We had a late start. No one was up until 9. We got up and did our own thing. I was back on blog again. We planned to hit a few open homes today. Every few weekends, we’ll go around to check some out.

We both ended up wearing cardigans and jeans. Funny that.

We saw two today. The first one was okay, but we have fallen in love with the second place. It’s so cute! It’s two bedroom, has a cute kitchen, the bathroom needs a little work though, but the rest of it is perfect. It’s within out price range, it’s actually a bit of a steal! It’s also up in Newlands, so it’s up in the hills, and it’s got some views!! We are already so invested in this place, we’ve told them we’re interested. So we’re taking this one step at a time, but we really want this place.

Who wouldn’t want to have this view everyday?

We came back home and had some lunch.

Then, we just hung out at home for the rest of the day. Rory and I contacted our bank to start asking about loans, as we’re still pretty serious about going for Β that house.

I wrote up a few posts for the coming week and scheduled them, so I can stay on top of things.

Then I did the dishes, and read a little before bed.

Now, as promised here’s the to-do list I made on Friday. Let’s see how I did:

  • Do grocery and laundryΒ
  • Check out Comes and Goes in Petone
  • Find a good mug for Dad
  • Visit family
  • Do some driving this weekend
  • See if there’s any good open homes
  • Do some cleaning around the house
  • Check out Paper Bag Princess
  • Finish reading Me Before You
  • Do some baking
  • Write and schedule some posts for coming week

I mean, I did most things. I still really need to do some cleaning though.

That was my weekend anyway. What did you guys get up to?

  1. What a jam packed weekend you had there Ang! How hilarious is your family with the selfie stick! And ALL that food. I’m drooling with food envy. And needless to say, that onesie looks fab on you girl! 😜😜

  2. Not much happened over the weekend. On Friday, my dad came to school since finals were over. I had to leave by Friday for summer vacation. Packing up all your belongings at school takes a long time and packing them up into the car. Especially with a fridge, microwave, and a big stuffed bunny.

Saturday was my first full day of summer break. Not much actually happened that day all. I just enjoyed spending time with my family. I started reading Oliver Twist on Saturday and there is something fun about reading classics in a limited period of time.

All that happened today was church.

What I do everyday is check up on my blog and read other blogs

  5. That house has a darling view, Angela πŸ™‚ Nice to dream and aspire to something. Lovely cafe stop (that waffle was too fancy and I believe I could have used it as a boat hat!) and the time you both spent with your mum and dad looks it was fun. Your dad’s gift is too cute. What is Feijoa though? Your dad is especially animated and I think he is the star of the photos. If I had a lovely new jumpsuit such as that I would step out in it and let the world deal with the rest πŸ˜› xx

    1. Thanks! It was definitely the most fanciest waffle I had ever seen. I felt a bit bad about eating it as it had such lovely presentation. But i was hungry πŸ˜‹
Feijoas are a fruit. They’re quite tangy and really good. I thought they grew everywhere, but i really don’t know about what fruits grow where.
Animated is a very good description of my dad πŸ˜„
The jumpsuit is the comfiest thing I have ever worn, I hate taking it off πŸ™‚

      1. That is the best πŸ™‚ Not sure if it speaks to your excellent gift-giving or his feisty disposition–both are excellent! I suppose I will hold off on the Great Mug Caper… for now πŸ˜›

  6. I absolutely love this type of post, please keep them coming. You had a productive and fun weekend. I’m happy that you’ve found a house that you loved. We want to buy as well but not for the next couple of years, maybe more. We’ll probably be spending money on a wedding before πŸ™‚

  7. I love so many things about this post! First of all that wool/linen jumpsuit! SO cute! I’ve been on the prowl for a linen material romper but I still can’t find one! Also YESSS I loathe when people leave their grocery carts literally anywhere its SO annoyed especially when you’re in a parking lot just having to dodge hitting them. I love the family photos with the selfie stick lol that is TOTALLY something my mom would whip out too. Speaking of that’s actually a really good gift idea to get her one. That little cafe you guys went to looks like such a good place. There’s so many cafes and restaurants that Andrew and I are like “we gotta try that” and then it takes us like months to actually go lol Looks like a fun weekend!! Oh ps- what is that green (fruit?) in the dish bowl?

    xo, JJ

    1. The jumpsuit is so comfortable! I’m in love with it, I’ve been getting into it every evening when I get home XD
The selfie stick is hilarious, we all love playing around with it whenever we’re together πŸ˜€
There’s still tons of places that Rory and I still haven’t gotten around to going to, somehow you just forget XD
Everyone is asking about those fruit! It’s feijoas! I guess they don’t grow over in the US? They’re so good πŸ˜€

      1. Wow never even heard of feijoas, literally just had to google it! They said its like a pineapple guava?! Sounds good to me! I wish I could try it!

      2. The taste is hard to describe, but I would go with like a mash up of pineapple and guava. They’re so delicious! I have no idea where you could get them from though.. I really thought they grew everywhere XD
