30 Days of Blogging Challenge – Day 25

Here we are atΒ Day 25, I’ve been doing this all month withΒ MaggieΒ andΒ Cheila! We’re nearing the end of the challenge. Today’s prompt is about Things I Would Still Like to Learn.

Sounds easy enough, this will probably be similar to goals I have set for myself, as well as some random thoughts. I also thought I’d include random images, cause you guys know I like having pictures, even when sometimes they weren’t taken by me.

I Would Still Like to Learn:

  • How to improvise meals – I’m great at following recipes and instructions, but if you just give me ingredients and say “Go for it”, I will look at you blankly.

Whatever this is looks nice, I think its guacamole? That’s what Google says anyway
  • How to look after a car – I’m still in the process of driving more frequently, but that’s getting rarer and rarer, but I still want to know how to look after a car. So far, Rory has shown me how to change the oil (which I’ve already forgotten), and how to fill up the tank (which I have done successfully a few times!!).

I still hate the smell of gas
  • Tagalog – I always say I want to make an effort on this, but I never do. Last I checked Duolingo doesn’t have a course in tagalog. Any other apps you guys can recommend?

Why no Tagalog option Mr Owl?
  • This is more relearn, as I haven’t touched any in a while. But the ukulele, piano and flute. I really want to relearn all those skills.

At least I can still read music I guess
  • How to swim – I mean I can kinda float for a while, and I’m not too bad. But I’d like to learn proper techniques. Plus its an exercise I actually really enjoy.

I love swimming!
  • How to properly use a sewing machine – I know how useful it is and what it can do. I just don’t know how to use it properly.

Help.
  • How to motivate myself to clean every weekend – Like seriously, it’s getting ridiculous. Look at our carpet. It needs vacumming…

Help again, someone motivate me.
  • Finally, I still have to learn not to let my optimism run rampant. I was starting to daydream about owning that house we put an offer in on, and we just heard back that the seller has gone with another offer (sigh). It would have been way too convenient for us to get the first home we ever went for I suppose. I’m kinda bummed, but now we know how the whole process works. We just need to wait until we see another house that we can see as a future home.

That’s all I can think of for now.

What’s something you guys still want to learn?

Angela.

  1. You put an offer on a house! Oh Ang! What an amazing move! I am so sorry that you didn’t get it. But babe, this is the game. You just got to keep on going! And just know that if you don’t land a house, it’s because you and Rory weren’t meant to live in it. Eventually, something perfect will come along and at just the right price. Keep that optimism!

  2. Same! I would love to relearn how to play the piano. My family would always tease me how, out of my siblings and I, I was the one who had the highest grade level but I could not remember how to play it right now. Such shame. πŸ˜€

  3. I’d love to relearn the piano and clarinet, I’m not sure I can still read music that well so that would probably be the place to start! I’d like to learn a language too, not sure which one it’d be though. Maybe start on relearning German and French as I’ve not studied or used them in so long.

      1. I’m not sure about the spy skills, or maybe you just need to learn how to be more stealthy, get some electronics and such. The others might take time, but they’re definitely doable πŸ™‚

      2. Hmm true. Sigh. I always wanted to be a part of say an outfit like Mossad. That is completely unachievable unless they want a solid cover but yeah the others I can start attacking one by one. I started with French but had my usual fits of inertia and slacked.

  4. I think I can teach of a few of this things haha I clean every day (don’t leave it all for the weekend, but then again you have a full-time job, this is not possible), I can swim well and I can improve recipes every day if I want to. I make something in my head and go for it. The recipes you see on the blog were made up by me. I only follow a recipe if I’m baking because I have no idea about quantities and the order things should go. It would be a disaster. I would love to learn how to sew (I have a machine and all) and how to play the piano. Oh, by the way, I hate guacamole. It tastes like freshly cut grass!!

    1. Well dang, if only we had a Portugal/NZ teleporter so you could teach me πŸ˜€
I try to do little bits of tidying during the week, but yeah with full time work, we just can’t be bothered at the end of the day. So the weekend is all we have, and even then we put it off (its on the to do list for this weekend. That’s the third week in a row!). With food, I just don’t know what to do unless someone or something tells me XD
I don’t actually think I’ve had guacamole. I just googled food images.

      1. When we were both working we would divide and conquer on Saturdays. He would wash the dishes from the whole week (shame on us) and clean the kitchen and backyard and vacuum. I would clean the bathroom, do laundry, dust and organize.

      2. That’s kinda what we do! I clean the whole kitchen and mop the lino floors. Rory cleans the whole bathroom and vacuums the carpeted rooms. Then we’d both do laundry and tidy up/put things away. At least…that’s what we should be doing. We haven’t in a while (Not true actually, Rory did clean the bathroom last week while I was on blog)

      3. When we were really busy weeks would go by without any cleaning or even doing laundry. We would have like 10 loads waiting and we would have cereal for dinner. We left home at 9 a.m and got home way after 10 p.m
