Welcome to another TBT! Today is about when we visited Golden Bay in Nelson. This was during our Christmas Holidays in the South Island back in 2009.
Golden Bay is located around Nelson, a few hours drive from Blenheim (in the South Island) where we were spending Christmas with our extended family. We often went for little day trips, and one day Dad suggested this. The name alone sounded intriguing, and we were all keen to go out for a day trip.
It was very pretty, and very busy! Especially since it was the summer holidays.
We brought lunch and had a picnic on the beachside.
We went back to exploring the beach. There was lots of boats out in the water.
Andrew and I made lots of sandballs. Basically, you get wet sand, make a ball out of it, coat it in dry sand and repeat.
Then we helped to partially bury Jo.
It was a good day.
Bye Golden Bay. Till next time.
Angela.
Looks lovely!

What a beautiful beach! And the sandballs, how precious a memory 🙂 I would love aiming it at someone though I suspect they would crumble instantly…am I right?

It was beautiful! And yes, those sandballs were very delicate, once they were out of your hands, they just fell apart 😀

Copied. I shall not try to hurl one if I do end up making a sandball.

Aw what a fun day! I love your caption of the photo of you and your brother, “My amazing brother and a sullen looking Angela” lol That is such golden looking sand. Our sand here isn’t like that its more of a soft tan but not really fine or smooth (hence I don’t really like the beaches around here). It’s cool seeing beach sand from around the world.

The sand in other beaches I’ve been too aren’t that golden either. It was just that one I’ve been too, hence the name!
Hahaha, I really do like that picture, I’m not sure why I’m looking so grumpy, but my brother is just the polar opposite in it XD
