Natalie from Style in the Afternoon nominated for this award! I recently found her blog, and she has been so lovely and supportive! She’s a great writer, and blogs mostly about fashion and beauty! Go check her out 😀
Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.
Answer the questions asked.
Nominate seven more bloggers for the award.
Create seven questions for your nominees.
It’s all pretty straightforward, so let’s get into it!
I’m gonna go with Amy Poehler.
What has been the most special moment in your life thus far?
Way to be cliche, but definitely getting married to Rory 🙂
What is your favorite clothing item?
Cardigans!! I have so many, and I love them all so much.
What are your favorite types of posts to write?
Oh gosh, I write so many different kinds. I like the ones I write about my family. Things I Learnt From My Dad is very special to me, and with more birthdays coming up, I’m going to be writing more ‘letters’ to my family members. I also really like my photo heavy ones, as I’m still learning more about photography, but I love experimenting with it. I really like participating in the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge!
Where would you choose to go on your dream vacation?
I have many places I would love to go. One of the main ones would be Europe. I would love to be able to see so many places in Europe. I feel like one of those big train rides that go for days and go through lots of cities and countries would be an amazing holiday!
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The networking! Commenting and reading other posts, seeing what you guys think of my own posts. It’s all so much fun 😀
What beauty product could you not live without?
I’m gonna go with foundation. I don’t use too much of it, just enough to even out my skin tone, as I get lots of reddish patches, and it bugs me.
Okay, let’s nominate some people! If you’ve done this award before, or you don’t do awards, then just know I wanted to nominate you but feel no need to accept it 🙂
Hey, so I’ve reached 500 followers on Life of Angela!! I’m so excited! That’s crazy! So to celebrate, I want to look at all the other milestones that we’ve managed to get this blog to!
First off, have you guys looked on the stats tab, and looked at the countries section? And then clicked on the all time part? Cause I did, and woooow!!
America, you’re literally on fire! Thanks for the love you guys over there! I took a screenshot of the first part of all the numbers underneath, and there is still so much below. Looking at this definitely left me speechless. I’m aware that this blog is available to be viewed from all around the world, but these statistics really put them in perspective!! Let me know in the comments which country you’re reading this from! I really want to know.
Let’s look at some other stats you guys have helped my blog get to 😀
Also, please don’t think I’m showing these to show off (I mean, maybe, a tiny bit 😛 ), but all of this is thanks to all of you who come by and read my blog. All of your support means so much to me, and I really think you guys should take a look at your own stats too. I never imagined I would reach over 10,000 views, let alone 1000. Or that over 3600 people would stop by and read my rambles.
Gosh I’ve written a lot for someone who hasn’t even been blogging for three months… This month in particular, with the added challenge blogs, I’ve gotten up to three posts a day for most of the week. I don’t think I can keep that momentum up for longer than a month. As much as I do love daily blogging, even I can feel a bit overwhelmed by how much work I’m putting into it. I was talking to Cheila (shoutout!) the other day, that this can feel like a full time job. Course I do this as a full time hobby, on top of working full time, I am still working on finding that balance. I’ll still be on here every day though, literally 😀 (nothing can stop me!)
The last stat I want to share is that I want to thank you guys who come by every day, every other day, or every week. The traffic on my blog is often all over the place, but it’s still consistent. I like balancing what kind of posts I write, including the ones that I know are the most popular (Photo heavy ones, or awards/tags), along with random ones that just pop into my head and I have to write down. I literally have 10 drafts right now of half baked ideas which will soon become full post ideas in the next coming week. Spoiler! That’s how I write most of my posts. Lots of drafts, scheduling posts, rewrites, moving things around. All noted down in my little planner so I can keep track of what I’m writing about. I try not to do the same kinds of posts day after day. Especially as a daily blogger, I like changing things up 😀
If you’d like to see some past milestone posts, I’ll list them below. Also, for reference I’m going to include the date at which I hit them, because I personally find that interesting in a statistical way.
Finally, I just want to say thank you again to all of you guys who follow me, read, like and comment on my posts. While all of this is amazing, a small part of me wonders if I can keep this momentum going, if I’m still going to be blogging as frequently in another almost three months. I keep telling that voice to shush, because I totally plan to keep going, this has been such an incredible experience, I’ve met so many lovely people, and gotten to read such a range of stories and posts! Here’s to blogging!!
I really love thinking up of what I can write about next. Let me know if there’s any kind of posts you’d like to see more of 🙂
Also, especially to my new followers please keep commenting and saying hi! I would love to check out your blogs, but you guys are coming faster than I keep track! I do my best, but leaving a comment gives me a separate notification to remind me to say hi back!! 😀
Man, this challenge has proved tougher than I thought, coming up with an extra post every day for a month has been a lot of work. But it’s also been a great exercise, and I have been loving it, especially now that we come into the last week! I’m doing this alongside, Maggie and Cheila (guys we can do this!!)
Okay, so Day 23 is about My Inspirations.
So, I feel like I’ve talked about this before, especially in certain awards. And also a little bit in yesterday’s challenge post. But hey, let’s talk about them again!
You guys. All of you here in our little blogging community are a huge inspiration to me! I love reading all the different posts you do, the ideas you come up with, the things you’re doing, the places you’re going, your experiences and stories…it all motivates me to keep going myself!
LifeofAngela. My blog motivates me to keep going. I love all the milestones its been going through, and I also just realised that I am scarily close to 500 followers. How, when, how did that happen?? I need to think of another way to say thank you! You guys are amazing!!
The world. By that, I mean travelling. I have been lucky enough to do my fair share of travelling, but it feels like it’s never enough XD There’s so much to see out there in the world, and I would love to keep exploring. But while my heart screams yes, my annual leave and bank account gently tell me no. Ah well, one day. For now, I will look through blogs who show me sights from another land.
Family. I have a lovely, supportive and sweet family. They inspire me to keep going, to do my best, and to both plan for my future, and enjoy what I’m doing in the moment. I love going home to see them all.
Rory. My better half, he inspires me in all things I do. Being with him has made me a better person, and he tells me he feels the same way about me. I’m very happy to be in such a loving relationship, and it inspires me in everything I do.
Me!! I accidentally hit the exclamation key twice, but I’m going to keep it there. As much as all these other points and people inspire me, it’s up to myself to take all that and run with it. It’s up to me to decide what I do, and where I go. I’m happy to consider myself an inspiration, as many years ago, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to say it.
I did a little baking over the weekend, and I’m happy to say they came out good! I have tried making meringues before, but egg whites are a finnicky ingredient, and don’t usually like me. I used a recipe that had been tried a lot, and had lots of helpful tips. I didn’t double the recipe this time, and I wanted to try it as it called for chocolate chips which I still had lots of! You can find the original recipe here.
Welcome back to the A-Z Challenge! We’re up to K now, and also, this is my first reality show I’ve put on this list!
K is for Kitchen Nightmares (specifically the US Edition)
So my set up for this post is going to be a little different from previous ones, as it’s a reality show rather than a standard television show.
I got completely addicted to this show for a few months. I don’t normally watch reality shows, but seeing everything that went down, how some of the kitchens were run, the state they were in…it was basically a train wreck I couldn’t stop watching. I view Gordon Ramsay as a Simon Cowell equivalent, and it was fun to watch him maneuver around (and occasionally tear apart) these restaurants, owners and workers.
We are in the final leg of this challenge Maggie and Cheila! Day 22 is about What I Am Most Proud Of.
I am proud of quite a few of things at the moment. I’m not really one to toot my own horn so to speak, but hey this is the prompt for the challenge right?
I’m proud of LifeofAngela. My little blog has become my passion project, and it has already exceeded all my expectations (and continues to).
I’m proud that I have continued to exercise regularly this past month.
I’m proud of my wedding. I did plan pretty much all of it, as I was having so much fun. I did end up delegating a lot of the tasks on the day, and leading up to it, and everyone was happy to help out. Our wedding day went so well, and I was so happy, I stopped caring about all the little details and just enjoyed myself.
I’m proud of my job, of the kids I teach, and the amazing people I work with.
I’m proud of my family and the amazing things they continue to do.
I’m proud of Rory and of how amazing he is. He’s so thoughtful, sweet and the best partner any girl could ask for.
Basically, I’m proud of the life that I have lived, and I’m excited to see what happens next 🙂
I can put number 2 in the title, so I guess I can officially consider this a series in my blog! Yay!
Early Start Saturday
So we had an early start this Saturday. We had a 9am meeting with an insurance manager at the bank, in a branch that is a 30 minute drive away. So yeah, no late start for us this weekend.
The weather was pouring down and freezing, typical. But we were ready to go and out the door by 8.20.
We arrived there early and loitered until 9, where we had the meeting. I will skip the boring details, but it all went relatively well. We agreed to a good insurance cover, and it has offered us some peace of mind. We were being great adults. I also finally managed to change my last name at the bank at least. So that’s one down, a gazillion to go.
By the time all this was done it was quarter to 11. Where did our morning go? With our head buzzing with a lot of information about life insurance, income protection etc, we decided to get our grocery shopping done. Also, the weather had stopped raining, the sun was shining, but the wind was still ice cold.
We did the groceries, and by the time we got home it was already almost half past twelve. Rory put away the groceries, and I kicked off the laundry as we hadn’t yet done that due to that early meeting.
Then I went and tidied up our bedroom as we forgot last week, and our clothes pile on the bed and floor was getting extreme again.
So now that we can actually comfortably lie down in bed again, it was time for a quick lunch.
After lunch, I caught up with my post reading, and set up my posts for the next day as I hadn’t written or scheduled them yet. This included emailing back Angie about tattoo ideas for the mandala, and tracking down a few work emails.
The work emails were about helping out a colleague fill in a survey for a course she was doing on her leadership, and the other was from my team leader about a self review we were doing about our environment which we need for our meeting on Monday. Got that done, and now it was 3.30 pm. Time for a break yes? By break, I mean I’m going to write more blog posts (like starting this one!).
So this carried on into dinner time. Since I had just finished Me Before You, I was also keen to watch the movie.
I did manage to do some baking after the dishes though! Look out for that post tomorrow! I posted a picture of the final product already on Instagram yesterday 🙂
Then we watched the movie. There was so many faces from so many different fandoms there! Beyond Daenarys and Finnick, there was also Neville?? Clara?? Tywin??!!
I liked the movie, it was cute and I loved the two leads. But the book (as always) was better, at least for me.
Sleep In Sunday
So we didn’t wake up till 8.30, then no one got up till 9. We had breakfast at 9.30, and I started blogging around the same time. Somehow we lost track of time and it was now 11.30. We wanted to look at that home we saw last week again. The open home was at 12, so we headed off.
We met up with Rory’s dad (who also wanted to have a look) and had a second look at the place. I still love it, but I am fully aware that it will need some work. Not too much, but some, enough to think about how much we want to offer, taking into account how much the work will cost. So much adulting this weekend.
Anyway, we got back home just before 1, and had lunch. I finally folded and put away the laundry. Then I went back onto blog.
At 2, we left for our meeting with the property agent. We let them know we’re interested and we’re now going through the process of making an offer. There’s so much to go through, but we’re slowly getting into it.
Afterwards, I went to the library to get After You, and return Me Before You. I returned Me Before You, but After You wasn’t ready to be picked up yet. Darn. I stopped by in Typo on the way home, and came out with only one thing, which is rare 😀
I got a three year journal. Each page has a prompt, and a space to write three times. One for each year, so at the end you have a collection of thoughts ranging over three years! I actually had been thinking about getting this for a while, but kept umming and ahhing, but after reading Ella‘s post about her own 5 year journal, it got stuck in my head again! XD I’m so happy with it! I can’t wait to start filling it in!
Then I hopped back on blog, and forgot about cleaning again. Next weekend…I swear. Anyway, after that, we had dinner, washed dishes, did our own thing for a while and went to bed!
To-Do List (For some reason it got long this weekend):
Get ‘After You’ from the library as I finally finished ‘Me Before You’ – I went, but the reserve wasn’t ready to be picked up yet.
Write and schedule more posts for the upcoming week
Check out new followers blogs – ish. I’ve checked out a few, but you guys are coming faster than I can keep up 😛
Unfollow some blogs, those who haven’t posted in over a month, inactive ones, etc. – I did do this, I was following 382, and now I’m down to 312. Around 30 of those were just dead sites though
Do some baking
Do some cleaning around the house
Do some driving
Household errands – Grocery and Laundry
Meeting #1 – Insurance Manager at 9am on Saturday
Meeting #2 – Property Agents at 2.30 pm on Sunday
Change last name at the bank
Start trying to change last name at other places (IRD, Drivers License, Passport, etc) – ish, I’ve looked up the process online at least
Check out open home for property we saw last week again
Fill in survey for colleague at work
Think of data gathering ideas for self review at work
Maggie, Cheila and I are doing the 30 Days of Blogging Challenge. We are leading up to the final week. As tiring as this has been, I’ve also been quite happy writing this. Its led me to write about things I wouldn’t have otherwise! That being said, today’s prompt is meant to be about Goals for my Etsy shop, which I do not have. SO! I’m going to do something random and different like yesterday, from tomorrow on though, I should be able to stick to the original prompts 🙂
For today’s post, I was looking through my camera feed, and realized that I had gotten in the habit of taking photos of our grocery cart every week. Why you may ask? ….I don’t know, I just photograph everything nowadays 😀
So I’m going to share the photos with you for no reason.
So hey! You guys may know about that one tattoo I have cause I talk about it a lot.
Here’s a more recent picture of it:
It’s no longer bumpy, in fact I can’t even feel it when I put my hand on in. It’s fully healed! Which brings me to my next point. I now want that full mandala tattoo I was originally planning.
I emailed back Angie, and told her I was keen to return. I saw a recent drawing she had done on Instagram, of a floral mandala:
I don’t really want the rose, as I’m not too keen on roses, but I loved all the delicate leaf details, and the twist from a stand-alone mandala! So I went in last Tuesday after work for a consultation. Angie says she loves to come up with custom drawings, so she would work on an original mandala pattern for me. I promised to email through the styles I liked. She also talked about putting the mandala in the middle part of my upper arm, and having the leaves coming out above and under, but curving with my arm, so it would look like it was moving as I moved. I couldn’t really picture that but it sounds cool! So now I’m really excited. The appointment date is set for Sat 1st July. The reason it’s quite far is because we had to book in 4 hours (cause this is a larger tattoo) so also it’s going to cost a lot more, and I gotta save up specifically for it. I don’t think it’ll really take 4 hours, but more time is better just in case. My lotus was meant to take 2 hours, but really it was only around 30 minutes, so I’m feeling good.
Anyway! This all led me back down the Pinterest hole of looking at tattoos, both mandalas and everything else. So from here on out, let’s look at more tattoos and possible future tattoo ideas for me (or you guys)!
