Hi guys! So I have decided to start a new series. The title is inspired by Barney from How I Met Your Mother.
The idea has been in my head in a while, to talk about the online friends I have made and can’t wait to talk to. This has been kickstarted by Cheila’s Perfect Party series as well.
So basically, I want to introduce you guys to some awesome people, my favourite blogging friends! I made a list of everyone I wanted to talk about and I came up with 40. So this will be a loooong series. I’m thinking of doing it as a bonus post for the weekends. So now, you’ll hear from me at least two times a day for every day of the week, forever 😀
To kick things off, Haaaaaaaaave you met Dippy Dotty Girl?
Her real name is Arundhati, but to us in the blogging world, she is known as the wonderful Dippy Dotty girl (Or Cathy, according to Cheila).
She was born and raised born in Salalah, Oman, but moved to India, and then England. I believe she has a brother. She is 36, according to her about me page (which I just read today, shame on me). She has always been a writer, but some years back, she and her husband/partner in crime Adi, moved to Northampton. But very very recently, they have made the move to the Big Apple. New York! Sidenote, could someone tell me why it’s called the Big Apple?
She blogs about her wonderful travels, breaks, holidays and hikes.
She has an amazing way with words (must be all that literature she inhales, and the fact she used to work as a writer), and rambles about thoughts, memories, stories and then seemlessly takes us into her latest travel adventure.
Here is a snippet from her about page talking about her love of travel:
When I travel, I do it for the sake of ‘not being a frog in a well’. It is quite easy to slip into a corner of the world and not know anything about how the other part of the world lives. I cannot bear the thought of such an existence because I do not not want to know this wonderful world, its people, their cultures, their food and languages, their many quirks and beers. To keep moving is the great affair of my life and this travelling diary of mine is a record of these precious memories that shall make me smile when I am 80 and you, hopefully, now.
Along with these stories she tells, she shares amazing pictures of these places, from the views she sees, to the paths she walks, the selfies she takes, the animals she comes across, and the food she eats.
Here are some of my favourites:

I wanted to share some of my favourite posts of her. To be honest, there’s so many, that I was having trouble narrowing them down. I love travel blogs, and hers is one of the best out there. I’ve also been following her for months, and she has been blogging for even longer, so I’ve done my best to narrow them down to five.
- Sandwiching Two Awards with Love and Nutella
- Portloe
- Elvis Legs: Boscastle to Tintagel
- Sea Salts and Sail in Mousehole (the name place keeps giving me the giggles)
- Into a Norwegian Artist’s Retreat
- The Manhattan Story
That’s not five is it. Ah well. Almost.
She is also on Instagram under @arundhatibasu80, where she shares even more amazing pictures.
On top of this incredible travel blog that she has, she is also a supportive, lovely person in both real life (I assume), as well as in this blogging community. She will leave you the best comments in her typical writing fashion, and I always get excited when I see her show up in my reader or notifications. She has been following me and supporting me since my Peru adventures post waaaaaaay back in early/mid March. She is one of my favourite blogging friends, and I’m sure you all already know her. If you don’t, well now you have many reasons to go check her out 🙂
Arundhati, you are amazing. You and Adi keep travelling, exploring and living life to it’s fullest, I can’t wait to see where life will take you next 🙂
I will be doing another Have You Met tomorrow. Ten points to those who can guess who it is 😛
Angela.
Those puctures are beautiful btw

I do know Dippy Dotty Girl as a matter of fact.. well ‘know’ in the ‘we’ve chatted on the internet but never met’ kind of know 😂 .. I do know that she takes the most amazing photos!

Ha! I think that’s the case for most of us here XD
I have never met her in person either, but we have chatted many times on the internet 😀

Hmm you know me better than a whole lot of people in my life already 😉 I think the way I share my life, though mostly through my travels, is more than what I reveal otherwise. Though I chatter a lot at times (which is revealed in my rambling) but yes I do feel like we know each other xx

Hah you might know me a lot better than many, Sarah 😉 The funny thing is that the kind of things you sometimes reveal on your posts is part of your very innermost thoughts, isn’t it? That is why I am in love with blogging because of the various thought processes that it opens up for me. Thanks for the compliments 🙂 xx

I also don’t understand why it is called the Big Apple, is there actually a Big Apple there? I’m loving this new series already!

Right? Who decided to give it that nickname? I need to know! And thank you so much! 😀

For Gecko and you, I found this that New York state is America’s top apple grower, after the state of Washington. That is why the name you would think. But No, okay? The reason behind it is a NYC journalist (aha my kinda person) who covered race track news. In the 20s, this fellow overheard some stable hands in New Orleans comment that they were off to the Big Apple — NYC because its race tracks were big venues. So as you will know, a journalist is an expert at culling information, details, new words,…he started using Big Apple in his newspaper columns and started off a trend that caught on like fire.

You can have the points too! It was never a first come, first served. Although I guess it is less of a surprise once I’ve confirmed who it is XD

Hmph. I immediately thought of Cheila once I reached the end of the blog. So I will not have my powers of deduction questioned please! Remember that my alter-ego is that of a spy/detective 😛

Oh dear, I am surely going to be sitting in a pool of tears what with the big love Cheila and you have sent my way, darling girl. I am quite stumped, and you know what, I shall gather it close to me and feel cherished. And I will explain a bit more about why it is even more special to me. As I have been growing older, I find that my circle of friends is narrowing down. I do not have a problem with that at all because I have my best friend with me and darned good friends like you a click away. I love the fact that you wanted to put up 5 links and you ended up with 6. I shall and will shower you with Pusheen love. Also I cannot wait to show Adi this beautiful post just as I did with Cheila’s. He does hear an awful lot about you guys 😉 P.S.: A wee thing, but I was born in Salalah, Oman 😀 xx

Oh shoot!! I will edit my post, and include the Oman bit. I had no idea, and now I feel silly XD
I’m glad that you loved this post, I really do love your blog and cherish your company 😀
My group of friends has always been small too, but I love that my online friends keep growing recently, it is amazing. I also talk Rory’s ear off about you and Cheila XD
Also, I just had to get all your comments out of spam which I’m annoyed about. You are not spam!! Although, it seems to think I’m spam, I can’t seem to leave comments on posts again

Hahaha am I spam now? Maggie had advised recently on her post, remember? That is a bugger. I have to check mine again. I keep forgetting to. Don’t bother editing. It is fine. I am quite fond of Oman because my first 8 years were spent there and I have strange memories and stories. Our men clearly have quiet women for partners 😉

Haha, thanks!! It’s from How I Met Your Mother? Have you seen it? It’s a sitcom based in New York funnily enough, about a group of friends. There’s a running gag where a character will go up to someone and ask “Haaaaaave you met Ted?” 😀
