Hi! So this is going up on Tuesday for me (but Monday for all my US and UK readers I think), as we had a long weekend. It was for Queen’s Birthday, it’s not her actual birthday though, but every first Monday of June, we have a public holiday. So prepare for a longer weekend review.

Errands Saturday

I woke up late (late for me) at 7.30 am. Yes, that’s not late at all, most would consider it early. The first thing I do was turn on my laptop and see what’s been happening in the blogiverse. I caught up on notifications first as I do, and then I went on to Cheila’s blog as their was links to some of my posts that needed approval for the Perfect Party series. I’ll leave the linkΒ here. It was so beautifully written, and I could really feel the love and support through the text. Thank you Cheila! I’ve left long rambly comments on the post, but if you read this (which I think you will, as you listed all the weekend reviews on your post XD ) I wanted to say thank you again πŸ™‚

Then I checked emails and got a little sidetracked. Some of you may know Marzia. She’s big in the YouTube and online world. Well, I got an email about an upcoming summer box. I love those. I got her holiday one last year, I keep trying to buy other boxes but when I tick that NZ (Other countries) box, it says there are no shipping options which sucks. But I tried for this one, and it worked! I was excited, but also a little guilty cause I’m meant to be saving up and only spending money on important things. But also, I loved the products from the Holiday Box, and I still use some now. So money well spent?

Summer Box

Back to the weekend at hand. It took me another few hours to catch up on the rest of the blogs in my reader, but I was done by about 10 am. As I was doing this, Rory went for a run, made breakfast and coffee/tea for the both of us and had a shower. He had a whole morning while I was blogging XD We then did the laundry and got dressed for the day.

After hanging up laundry inside as it is again cold and gray (stop it winter), we headed out. Rory wanted to get a long sleeve work out top, as he had only t-shirts and it’s cold (I won’t stop talking about the cold). So we went to The Warehouse. He found what he was looking for, and I ended up getting some socks as my ones are all holey, and I haven’t bought any since 2015. After that, we did our weekly grocery shop.

Rory looks at clothes while I follow him around taking pictures
Can you spot me on the screen?
I don’t need to keep showing you our groceries, but I want to for some reason

We got home, unloaded the groceries, then had some lunch. We hung out for a bit after lunch. Rory played games, and I blogged. I have been wanting to start a series talking about all my favourite online friends, so I decided now is a good time as any. Especially after reading Cheila’s lovely post on me, I wanted to do that for all the amazing bloggers I know. Thus, the Have You Met series was born!

At 3pm we went to the movies to watch Wonder Woman. I really liked it! It’s the first decent DC movie I’ve seen recently. Wonder Woman is also just amazing, it was awesome seeing her in action, some parts did drag a little for me, but not as bad as Man of Steel or Batman vs Superman (those were soooo boring).

I couldn’t rock that outfit quite like Gal Gadot
Edit: But thanks to Maggie’s amazing photo editing skills, here I am doing just that.

Afterwards, we got pizza for dinner. We didn’t have time to cook, as Rory had to cover a night shift. 7pm-7am. So it’s just me tonight. Pizza was good.

Rory said bye at quarter to 7, and then I carried on blogging. Then I went on YouTube. Then it was 9pm and I needed to wash dishes. After that I read for a bit, then went to bed at around 11.

Relaxing Sunday

So I woke up at around 6.30 am as I heard the keys in the door, which meant Rory was back! It reminded me of our earlier days, when we lived together and he always did this shift work. He would always try to sneak in without waking me, but when it comes to him, my brain always seems to know, so I immediately wake up to say hi. Rory on the other hand is the heaviest sleeper ever, and nothing can wake him.

I got up and went on blog. By 8.30, I was all caught up and it was time to have a shower, get dressed and have breakfast. While I ate, I looked at open homes and found two I really liked. I made sure they were in the late afternoon so Rory has had a decent sleep by then. After that, I finally emailed my favourite summer memory to Maggie. For you guys who don’t know, Maggie recently made a post asking for her readers to send through their favourite summer memories, which is so much fun! I can’t wait to read the final post in a few weeks time πŸ˜€

Then I checked our laundry. Only half was dry. By now, it was pretty much lunchtime. We had leftover pizza from last night. Rory woke up around 12.30pm. A short sleep yes, but he seems to function fine on it, me on the other hand, I would be a wreck.

After that, we headed out to see two open homes.

It’s colder today

There was some time to kill in between viewings, so we stopped by at the mall. We browsed in bookstores mostly, and I managed to find a gift for my brother, as his birthday is next week. I won’t say anything about it yet πŸ˜€ Also, all the bookstores were showing the new covers for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in celebration of 20 years!! I so badly wanted a Hufflepuff one, but I have already spent a lot this weekend, so I curbed the urge.

I liked the houses we saw today. The first one was pretty nice, needed a teeny bit of TLC, but it has little nook areas which I love, as well as kitchen islands. Could be worth looking into more. I loved the second one but it’s probably out of our price range. It was built in 2014, very modern, had open floor plan, lots of windows, I imagine it is gorgeous in summer…it will probablyΒ go for more than we could ever offer. We may still try though, cause I’d feel worse if we didn’t.

Little sneak peek of the second place, from the real estate site

Back home, I watched some Parks and Recreation. Then I did more blogging. At around 7, we had dinner, we just fried up some sausages cause we forgot to take anything else out of the freezer.

After that, I read till 10pm, and finished up After You! I’ve read 10 books so far this year!

Bonus Monday

We woke up late today. 8.30am. That’s very late for me, especially cause I schedule posts to go up at 7.30am. I also woke up to more emails and notifications per usual. I definitely credit this to the Have You Met series, I love that you guys are loving it! I’m going to stick to two each week, and I’ve planned out posts in this series until September! I caught up on notifications, then tracked down the still-in-bed husband to see what he wanted for breakfast. We decided on waffles.

I keep adding chocolate chips to everything now

After breakfast, I remembered that we wanted to wash bedsheets, so we threw them in the laundry. I got caught up in blogging again after that. Rory went out to buy the present for his dad next week. I stayed home cause it’s again freezing, and also, I was mid flow in writing a new blog post and wanted to keep going. In case you’re wondering, it’s another family birthday post! This time for my brother. Then it was time for lunch.

After lunch, I went down a YouTube hole for a while. At around 4.30pm, I finally decided to do some baking. I had wanted to do something lemony, so I made some Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies. Long name yes, but that’s what the recipe calls it. They could have been more lemony, but ah well. I will share more about it tomorrow!

We had curried sausages for dinner, why sausages again? Well, they are the fastest thing to defrost, and this weekend, we only ever remember to take something out for dinner at around 12.30pm. Anyway, after dinner, I watched more YouTube, blogged a little more, did my little workout, we did the dishes, I managed to read a little, and went off to bed at 9.30pm since we actually have work tomorrow.

To-Do List

  • Change last name on passport, IRD (tax), and Driver’s License – Partly. I have sent off form to change my name on my tax info, I will do the rest eventually (I keep saying).
  • Go to the WarehouseΒ  – Rory got his long sleeve top, I got socks
  • Go see Wonder Woman
  • Groceries
  • Laundry, including bed sheets cause they need it
  • Do some baking
  • Finish Reading After You, and start on Buffering
  • Buy Andrew’s birthday present
  • Go see a few open homes
  • Send Maggie my favourite summer memory

What did you guys get up to this weekend?

  1. I did finish my third summer book today in the morning and it is Monday over here in the US. Yesterday, at church we celebrated Pentecost, which is the birthday of the church and afterwards. we had a picnic. Later that day, church and other friends came over to our house for dinner. Days can feel kind of slow at times over summer break

      1. I do not head back to school until about August 21st. I have not spent my entire summer break at home. I have volunteered some and as long as I am free Friday mornings, I will always be going with my dad to volunteer with Loaves and Fishes.

My summer break technically has still just started since I got home on May 12th. So there is still time to have wonderful memories from this summer. But to be honest, some summers have been better than others

  2. You were super productive! That Ravenclaw cover 😍
I adopted my plant and I changed my blog theme so that’s really all the excitement I got up to haha. It was sooooo hot! I couldn’t move!

    1. Thanks Pamela! Those covers are all so beautiful!
And hey, you got stuff done too! XD
I always feel like I don’t do much on the weekend, but when you list them down and cross them off, it’s suddenly so much more satisfying XD
I wouldn’t mind if you could give us some of this heat you speak of. It hasn’t gotten higher than 12 degrees (that’s around 55 Fahrenheit) here lately. And right now this morning, it’s at 4 (which is like 40) 😦

      1. Thank you for the conversions!!! It’s been 80 Fahrenheit here (26 Celsius) although it’ll be down a bit during the week. I hate it so you can have as much of the heat as you want! πŸ˜‚

  3. Oh, please keep these posts coming, I love them. And keep showing us your groceries, I love to check what people buy. You bought really cute socks but don’t you need them to come up a little higher since it’s so cold? Mine never get to be holy, as soon as they are getting a little stretched out I throw them away, both mine and his. I wish I was like you and could disconnect from blogging and go read.

    1. I enjoy writing these! I definitely don’t plan to stop. I have a weird thing with socks where I only like ankle ones. If they’re long, then I end up rolling them down anyway. I’m not sure why. I wear lots of boots at the moment though, so the length of socks don’t matter too much to keep me warm. I sometimes have to turn off my laptop to get me off the blog so I can go read XD but then I have my phone nearby and periodically check notifications.

    1. Ahh yes, the joys of looking for somewhere to live and call home. We are being less cautiously optimistic as so many people seemed interested. We’re putting our best offer forward and tightly crossing our fingers πŸ™‚ I wish you luck on your own hunt πŸ˜€

  4. I miss the Warehouse! I go there every time I come home coz it’s so darn cool haha. Also 20 years since Harry Potter?!??! Holy moly time goes fast. I didn’t do much on the weekend – no long weekend over here, our Queens Birthday is in October (don’t ask!) .. On Saturday I finished editing my photos from the previous week & finally uploaded my post about that trip, then I watched a whole heap of FBI crime shows on Netflix (there are some very disturbed people out there!) & baked some cupcakes (I needed to use up the milk and cupcakes help when watching shows about disturbed people!); on Sunday I visited a friend in hospital (which was not very nice to be honest) and then did an impromptu walk through the city & saw the sun set (which was very nice) ..

    That was pretty much me!

  5. I have heard good things about the Wonder Woman movie, it’s got me intrigued πŸ™‚ What pizza flavours did you get if you don’t mind me asking? Leftover pizza the next day is so tasty!

  6. That place looks lovely judging by the sneak peek! So cool to see how bloggers get certain series started. Looks like you’ve had an amazing and productive weekend. I’ll be spending mine planning, catching up on many blog posts, and running some errands
