So hi! Last month, I posted about my blog stats at the beginning of April. It’s still one of my most top liked posts. I originally wanted to do this last week, but I was worried that it would come off as showing off, and also I had recently done a similar post for hitting 500 followers, so I held off. But you know, I am really proud of my not so little blog now. It’s three months old, and I’ve put a lot of hard work into it, and your support and seeing these numbers grow has been incredible and bewildering.

So, allow me this indulgence of talking about how crazy amazing May was through numbers.

I thought April was crazy, but May reached the next level.

May Stats

In April, I had 4984 views, 1449 visitors, 2244 likes, and 957 comments.

In May, it reached 8935 views, 2486 visitors, 4536 likes and 2186 comments. It essentially doubled. Now while I assume a lot of this growth is from my blog naturally growing and getting a wider audience, it may also be that I was posting two to three times a day thanks to the 30 Day Blogging Challenge (Shout out to Maggie and Cheila!). I normally only do one or two a day, which I’ve now returned to this month. Do you guys want to know how many posts I published in May? 77. 77 posts in one month. Maybe I really do have a problem.

I can’t call this blog little anymore, but I don’t feel ready to call it big either. You guys may disagree, but it freaks me out still. So I will stop calling it my little blog, and settle for not-so-little. Sound like a good compromise? No…well I’m gonna stick with it anyway 😛

I want to look at milestones my blog reached last month. I took part in a month long challenge alongside two amazing blogger friends. It made me write about topics I hadn’t thought about, and added on my daily blogging schedule, and I feel like I balanced it well.

You guys continue to nominate me for awards. Both old and new! So much so that I now started putting second nominations in Bonus Round posts. I’ve been able to do it every two weeks as they keep coming in! You guys are really too much 🙂

I reached 400 followers on May 13. I reached 500 followers on May 24. That’s a hundred new followers within 11 days. What the shit? And then I hit 600 on June 4. Yes that’s not in May, but again that’s 11 days?? As I write this I’m on 652, so it may happen again and I’m freaking out. (I have planned something for when we reach that though)

I hit the most views in on May 6, which was 300. On May 10, I got 329. On May 11, I reached 371. On May 12, it reached 374. On May 19, it reached 398. On May 25, it reached 419. In terms of likes, on May 6, I reached 163. On May 11, I reached 183, which was a huge jump! On May 18, I reached 185.  On May 25 again, I reached 218. A new bar was set which will never be passed again. Not unless I’m posting three times a day again, and that won’t be for a while XD I also just remembered that on May 25 I posted a bonus post asking for help about the spammy comments. That may be why there was a huge jump.

But anyway, I digress. My point is, what is happening???? No it’s not. Maybe a little. Part of me will forever remain bewildered that anyone would want to read my rambles, especially this kind of growth which happens over a short time. Another part of me also swells with pride that my writing is getting so much support, recognition and encouragement. While I am still curious to dip my toe in the world of vlogging and YouTubing, I feel like my real passion is blogging. It feel so much more personal and interconnected. It’s a lot more natural to me to write down my views, stories and experiences than to speak about it.

This brings me to my next point, I do want to try do videos more (ish). My first one was part of my Leisurely Drives series. I had so much fun editing it, and I’m really happy with it, even though it’s tiny.

I’ve planned a video for when I reach 700, because I am now very aware of my follower count and it’s going up scarily fast again. I’ve found a tag called 32 Random Questions. While it felt awkward to shoot, that quickly went away, as I just imagined talking to all of you guys like I do when I write. Editing will take ages but I had so much fun the first time round! The sound quality will in no way be flash, but I’m not a professional. What I’m trying to say is, I want to give it a shot! So even though I won’t do videos often, I am having fun with it, and as long as I’m happy with it, it’s good enough. My question to end this ramble is do you guys have any future video suggestions, either for milestones, or just for fun? Creating one video a month sounds likes fun, and possibly doable. I’ll link it to my blog through my YouTube channel. I don’t see the YouTube channel itself growing, but it’s the easiest way to get videos on here without going self-hosted. No promises though, as blogging daily is already a handful. But, I’m a sucker for fun hobbies.

Anyway, that last part went off track. My point is, you guys and all your support is incredible. It’s definitely boosted my confidence in myself, my writing abilities, my photographic abilities, and has even pushed me to try something out of my comfort zone, which is trying out my video editing and filming. These skills are almost non-existent right now, but I’m having fun working with it. So thank you for listening/reading me talk about my blog’s successes, and some plans for the future.

Thank you 🙂

Also, the next Have You Met will be up in a few hours 😀

Angela.

  2. I’m always impressed by the amount of dedication that you put into your blog. Now that summer is here, my plan is to increase my posting frequency. This past week esp. has been a bit random. I look forward to trying to organize things a bit more, as I saw you do in a post of yours not too long ago. There are a cool few series that I’ve conceived and am excited to start. You’re a great motivation.

I still feel that you are little, in a way, because you always respond to comments fairly quickly and you seem to have a lot of interactions in the community, just by what I’ve experienced with you and observed. I feel larger bloggers take a lot more time to respond to comments because their queue. So that’s why you don’t feel big to me yet. You DO make a big impact, though.
