What Do I Think About Art tag

The wonderful KanaΒ has recently tagged me in something new and exciting! Well new and exciting to me, as it’s such a different tag than the other ones I do.

The creator of this tag isΒ My Mind Speaks Aloud!

So here is the “What Do I Think About Art” tag.

Rules:

  • Copy the piece of art given to you by your nominator into the post, as well as these rules
  • Analyse the piece of art given to you and what it means to you (you can be as abstract as you like)
  • Nominate 5 people to analyse another piece of art of your choice

So here is the piece that Kana has given me to analyse. I adjusted my glasses before I wrote this, as I am entering serious mode, also I am very near sighted, and they were slipping down my nose.

This was done by Banksy

Okay, so here are my thoughts:

Cool. I like that the yellow lines go up onto the wall. I like flowers. How did he match up those lines so perfectly? Also, how does he make the lines so straight? I can never draw straight lines. I’m guessing he also painted the little dude on the side with the yellow paintbrush. I’m more impressed with the painted person, as that looks really impressive. I can’t draw anything. Do people know when Banksy does these little pieces?

Okay, so the second half of the question is what it means to me. Uhhh, I don’t really know. But let’s put on my thinking hat. I’m guessing it’s about making something different out of the ordinary. These are just regular double yellow lines which he turned into a giant flower. Also, this just makes me happy. I’d love to see this suddenly turning the corner, it really does make that specific corner so much more unique. He also included his little self in the corner sitting down and looking around, I like to imagine he’s looking at other yellow lines and planning on making more flowers everywhere. I’m not gonna get too abstract, cause now I’m getting flashbacks to Art and English classes where you’re given something to analyse, and I try my best too, but my brain just goes on tangents, and it’s never helpful. See, it just did it now.

Great analysis yes? Went off topic many times!

Anyway, now I get to do some nominations, and choose a piece for Β you guys to analyse!

Again, feel no pressure to join in, I just thought this tag might be of interest to you guys πŸ™‚

Here’s your art to analyse:

I liked that Kana used street art, so I’m doing the same. I found this on Google Images, so I don’t know who did it, but it caught my attention.

Have fun!

  1. This is such a fun tag!! Banksy’s art is really cool; I read about him when I was studying European art last year. πŸ™‚ I’m definitely writing about this tag when I do an awards/tag post next! xx

  2. Absolutely loved reading your interpretation of the Banksy art piece. Street art cannot get better than that surely. To think that Banksy could have made double yellow lines flower out this is πŸ™‚ I like the irony in it because if you did park on those double yellow lines, life would not seem flowery and cheery. The flower would surely wilt visibly. I am going to do this tag asap because I am surely going to have fun writing up my (extremely vague) interpretation of your piece of street art. Thanks for thinking of me xx

    1. Haha thank you! It was quite fun to try think about deeper meaning in art. Reminded me of being back in school. My interpretation was always vague and rambly πŸ˜ƒ
I look forward to reading about what you think about the art I chose πŸ˜„

  3. Wow!! This tag is an incredible idea!! Banksy’s art is so beautiful, like a small piece of beauty for everyone to see up against that wall while they go about their life’s. Thank you so much for nominating me!! I love the art you chose. I’m going to have to think really hard about that one. Have a lovely day πŸ˜„πŸ’—

  4. What the heck this tag is so cool! I love Banksy! He’s a super well-known street artist(: There’s this really cool documentary on Netflix that mentions him a few times and I think he’s even interviewed (doesn’t show his face though) I’m pretty sure it’s called “Exit Through the Gift Shop” if you’re interested(: Also thank you for the nomination! I’m extra excited for this one bb! ❀
