Saturday

I woke up at 8 today! I had a whole 10 hours sleep which I never do. But I had a weird, broken sleep Friday night, so I was tired enough and needed the extra rest. After getting up, I jumped onto the blog as usual. I had breakfast (toast and coffee!) and caught up on notifications and reading everyone’s posts.

At 9, we set off the laundry and got dressed for the day. Rory was meeting with some friends at 11, so we wanted to get the Saturday errands done early.

At 10, we had hung up laundry, I was pretty much caught up on all my blog reading, so we went off to get groceries. The weather is holding out sunny again this weekend!

Our weekly shop

We got back at 11, and Rory headed off. I messed around with some new beauty products that I got yesterday from a random one-off subscription box. They’re called Beauty Box, and they’re based in New Zealand, it only cost $30 too, so I figured it would be fun, and I’d get to try some new products. I’m planning on doing a whole post on it later in the week sometime. I don’t normally do beauty posts, but it was fun to play around with!

Is this how you do a flat lay?

At 12, it was time for some lunch! So I made a sandwich that popped into my head from my childhood. Basically it’s a tuna sandwich with mayonnaise and grated carrot! So that’s what I had, I toasted the bread without thinking though, so it was a little different than how I normally have it. While eating, my next installment of Have You Met came out! This time about Linda, who almost immediately commented on it! She is one of my favourite people, and is also almost in the same timezone as me, so we’re able to chat more! I would love to meet her in person one day 😀

After lunch, I did the shopping I wanted. It was still sunny so it made the walk even nicer.

The sun is staying for longer than a few hours 😀

I stopped by Bunnings first. As I walked in, they had a lot of cactii and succulents on display. I have been reading Anni’s posts lately where she has been sharing her cactus obsession with us. I caved and bought three in the end. It’s also my mum’s birthday coming up soon in July, but we’re celebrating it next week as my sister and Tibor are coming down from Auckland. So I carried on shopping to look for gift ideas.

I’m already attached to them and thinking of names. Suggestions?

I stopped by Whitcoulls, but couldn’t find anything. I went into Iko Iko, and also came up empty. I ended up walking by The Paper Bag Princess, which is a thrift store I adoooore. So I went in and killed an hour browsing. I only bought two things which is amazing for me 😀

I bought this oversized black cardigan (yes another cardigan!), and this white wool skirt. Both great winter finds!!

Finally, I headed to Briscoes and found something that I will use to add to my mum’s present. Finally, I headed back home. I got back at 3.30pm and Rory was back.

Also, I had a received a letter from the Education Council. I have recently received my full teacher registration! Basically, after you finish studying to be a teacher, you get your provisional registration. You use this as you work towards getting your full registration, which means now you’re really fully qualified to be a teacher. It’s a long process yes. To get this, you need to have worked full time for at least two years, and complete a mentoring programme with a senior teacher during this time. Lots of meetings, appraisals, readings, reflections, all that jazz. And I’m happy to say, I’ve done all that, so now I’m fully registered and yay!!

Afterwards, I caught up more on blogging, then I started baking! I was on a roll! I’ve run out of cookies ideas, so I’ve moved onto muffins. When I get some icing decorating thingies, I’ll do cupcakes too! Anyway, I made Blueberry muffins! Once they were done, Rory and I immediately ate two each. They’re so gooood.

Finally, it was time for dinner at 6. We made hotdogs and wedges. Then I watched a movie (Sleeping with Other People) while doing some colouring. After that, we had hot chocolate, cause it’s cold. I worked on a few more posts and we went to bed around 10.30pm.

Sunday

I woke up around 7, but didn’t get up till 8.30 cause cooold. It’s always so cold in the morning. Because it was so cold, I decided we should have a big breakfast of pancakes! We still had heaps of blueberries, so we threw those in. We also still had some chocolate chips, so we decided why not throw those in too. On top of that, we made smoothies out of blueberries, lemon juice, banana and milk. Most of these have been collected from my various baking endeavours so we gotta use it up somehow 😀

Not a bad start. Then we literally did nothing all morning. Rory played games, I blogged, watched YouTube and did more colouring. I finished another page in my Mandala book!

Ooh by the way, I mentioned a few weeks back about Maggie’s Summer Memories series she was planning, and that I submitted my story. Well, she has just featured my story about my Summer Christmases in Blenheim! She’s added some lovely pictures, including a delectable one about Pavlova! Thank you so much for sharing my story Maggie! 😀

Then suddenly it was lunchtime. We had some leftovers, then we realised it was nearly 1, and we wanted to check out that open home from last week again, as we are interested in making an offer again.

20170618_130342

The weather has gone grey now and it’s gotten a bit cooler. The place was the same as ever, sturdy, needs some painting on the interior (which sounds like fun to do ourselves actually). Afterwards we went out to the mall to kill time before our meeting at 2.15pm with the realtors. Rory bought a present for his sister, as her birthday is next week. I bought a coke float because I was thirsty. Soon, it was time to go.

The meeting was interesting. We had a good talk with the realtor, and she was full of tips. She was saying it’s still early days for us in house hunting, this would be our third place we made an offer on. She has known couples who went through at least 12 before landing on one (doesn’t make me feel too confident, but I appreciate the realness).  She also said that it was crucial to keep a level head and keep going, even if you lose out on one house. As long as you know you put the best offer, that’s all you can do, you don’t want to go too crazy and put in more than you can actually do. So yeah, we’ll see how this one goes. But boy is it getting tedious.

We headed back home and watched Edge of Tomorrow to chill for a bit. Also, I emailed Natalie, as I was keen to take part in a new series she’s doing based on the Vogue 73 Questions videos on YouTube. Have you seen those? In 10 minutes, they ask a celebrity 73 questions, and it’s harder to do than I thought XD I didn’t do it under 10 minutes, you guys know I love to ramble. One of the questions asked if I had planned anything for reaching 800, which ahh..no. It’s creeping up again too. It was still really fun though, and Natalie did a great job of tailoring the questions to me and my blog.

After that, we had some dinner. Beef Stroganoff that my lovely husband made while I wrote more posts. Also, I saw that I gained an email follower which I was confused by. Then I recognised my mum’s email address. So, Hi Mum if you’re reading! You will be spammed by emails as I post a lot, just letting you know.

Then we washed dishes, put away laundry and just enjoyed and relaxed the rest of our Sunday evening.

    1. Hahaha 😂 I just had them on the mind, and then I walked into the store and there was a whole display of them, so I thought “Might as well get three” 😂 They’re so cute and adorable!!

  1. Hi Angel! Wow your winter days look so beautiful with blue skies. My bf is currently working in Christchurch and I am back in the states. He doesn’t take many pics so it was nice to see your NZ photos :). Wow, you are having a funfilled / productive weekend. Great job on crossing off nearly everything on your list! I wish I could do that. Have a wonderful week and please keep the lovely posts coming!

  2. Wow, you get so much packed into your days, sounds like a fab weekend and you’ve got some great photos too. Is it odd I quite enjoyed being nosy and seeing what food you stocked up on in your trolley? Really good finds with the skirt and cardi, wouldn’t mind getting an oversized cardi like that with a chunky knit myself. Also… Huge congrats on the full teacher registration – definitely a reason to celebrate, you’ve done brilliantly so well done! 😀

    1. Thanks Caz! I feel like we got heeaps done on Sat, which is what we try to do so we can just relax for the most part on Sundays 😀
I always find it fun to share with you guys what’s in our grocery cart, I like nosing around seeing what other people have in their cart too 😂

  3. Congratulations on getting your registration! It is big. How are you celebrating? I can imagine this urge to settle down in your own home must be a strong one and that it is a frustrating period but the agent sounds sensible. Do keep looking. You never know when your dream home just shows up, asking to be snapped up. All the best to Rory and you 🙂 xx

    1. I celebrated my just jumping up and down then I ate most of the muffins. They were good. We do just want to settle down and find a home already, but these things take time. We’ll keep trying 😄

      1. I get your impatience. I would be too! Setting up your own home would be a fantastic adventure in life. The best really because it is about putting down roots in a space that is entirely your own. Signed and sealed xx

    1. Thanks Olivia! Its always fun to see what everyone gets up to when they’re not blogging 😃
I had a go with reviewing the products but i had no clue what I was doing 😂
So it should be an entertaining read at least 😄

  4. This past weekend not much happened. Every Saturday morning, I tend to make pancakes even though it is my dad who flips to them due to a girdle where the pancakes can really get stuck so we basically messed it up, but I do make the batter. Sunday was another Pops Symphony and that was the 2nd one my family went to this summer and off attendance, I think the most people came to this one and I think it had something to do with the theme

  5. Oh goodness I looooove little cactuses and succulents!! 😍 I have a few in my room right now, one that I got last fall, and another my little brother gave me for my birthday in April. I could seriously have a succulent collection! They’re adorable and so easy to take care of. Also, I’ve been meaning to say, I love the picture that you’ve chosen for your blog’s icon! xx All the shots from your wedding are gorgeous 💜 I never get tired of seeing them!

    1. They’re the cutest plants! 😍
And yay, thank you Maggie! The shots by the staircase are definitely my favourite, but I do love all the photos! I’m glad you guys are still liking them as I cant stop showing them 😂

  6. That sounds like a relaxing weekend and congratulations on you full teacher registration. Those blueberry muffins look scrumptious. This weekend was a bit busy but full of fun stuff. I spent a lot of time outdoors. I attended an art walk with a friend, checked out some churches with a friend, did some shopping and grabbed dinner.

  7. First of all, congrats on your certificate. You’re so awesome and such an inspiration. Next, I need to mention those CUTE cacti!! I need to get some for me ASAP. Everyone is getting them and I’m getting cactus envy. I love that you shop at thrift stores because so do I. Love the pieces you got. Ange, I’m a little concerned, I don’t think you and Rory eat enough. Your cart for a whole week is never too full. Not many fruits and veggies either. Tell me you’re not malnourished, love lool. You know I live for these posts, thank you for doing them 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you! 😃
Those cacti are the best! I love them so much.
Thrift stores are ao much fun since everything in them is different to usual chain stores.
I dont think we’re malnourished. No, our cart is never full, but for two people we get enough. We still have veggies from the previous week. There’s no fruits I like at the moment as they’re all out of season 😐
Our dinner meals tend to be pretty simple, mostly carbs and meat, and some veggies. I swear we’re doing great, this is how we’ve always been. I’m loving the concern though, you’re like a big sister, even though you’re only older by a few months 😂
