Angela Tries Beauty Box

So, I could not think of a title for this, I kept going back and forth for ages. So whatever the title of this is, just know that I went through around 20 different variations.

Anyway, I mentioned in my latest weekend review that I tried out a random one-off beauty subscription box for fun. You get 5 products from different brands, as well as a free product that changes every week. The company that runs the subscription is Beauty Box. My only thought process of this was that it looked like it could be a fun way for me to try do a beauty post as I never do them, cause I have no idea how to. So who knows how this post will turn out? 😀 I will say though, please excuse the photos, they’re not the best, as I’m still trying to figure out the best selfie angles and such to show the products better.

Let’s have a look inside shall we?

Flat lay expert I am

Okay, so starting with the freebie. This is Syrah Rouge Organic Lipstick. Kinda a long name. Anyway, the first thing I noted is that it kinda looked like a tampon. At least the packaging did. That’s what my brain first thinks apparently. Anyway, that aside, I looked at the lipstick itself. A very dark, bold colour which is very unlike me. I like my nude lipsticks. But hey, I’ll give it a go at least.

I could not find a place to take selfies without the sun rudely interrupting

I will say, it goes on easily which is nice. It also didn’t smudge onto my teeth or anything so that’s also a positive. It moisturised my lips but didn’t make them feel weird. So all in all I liked it. It’s just waay too bold of a choice for me.

Now, onto the next product. In the green box is soap. Very nice smelling soap which is always a bonus for soap. The brand is Cocolicious, and the soap is “Frangipini-Lime”. Frangipini is a Polynesian flower, and lime is a fruit (which I’m sure you know). So it’s a floral, fruity smell which I really like in soap. Why do I keep saying soap?

In terms of reviewing it, I don’t really know how to judge. I used it to wash my hands. My hands smelt nice. Am I doing this right?

Anyway, next up is this hilarious looking bottle. It’s called “Dessert”, and the tagline is “Sexy Girls have Dessert”. It’s “deliciously kissable whipped body cream”. I really feel like they want me to eat this product and not wear it. On the back though it says “This is a novelty item. It is not edible”. Alright, fine..killjoy. The smell is a coconut/chocolate mixture, which makes it seem even more edible really.

The funnest part is spraying it out, it comes out like whipped cream! The moisturiser is super light and foamy, once I rub it in I don’t even feel it. It’s that light! But my skin does feel moisturised, and now it smells like coconut and chocolate. Even better. Now I want to eat my arm. I’m going to have so much fun playing with this.

So now we get to more make up things. First thing is this blush, which I thought was another lipstick. Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick. Another long title. Also, I didn’t know blush stick was a thing. I thought it was just pressed powder. The more you know. Anyway, the colour is called “Pink Fever”. I am not the biggest fan of very pink make up and this looks pretty pink.

Pink pink cheeks

So it says to either use your finger or a sponge, but I don’t have time to get a sponge (I did actually) so I just use my hand. I used a tiny layer and tried my best to blend it onto my cheeks. It’s already too pink for my liking. Especially since my cheeks are kinda naturally pink/red, I don’t feel the need to emphasize it. I probably won’t use this again.

Next up is this eyeliner. It’s by a brand called za? Za? zA? I don’t know, but there’s a Z and an A, and apparently they’re in New York. So this is called Ever Liner for eyes. It’s eyeliner basically. I like eyeliner, I normally use black liquid liner just cause it’s what I’m used to.

Zoom up into my eyeball

This one was a little weird. It felt more like a pencil, and was kinda scratchy when I used it. Maybe I’m used to liquid liner, but this just felt weird. Also, it’s a browny-purply colour that I couldn’t see much, and I like black. So this was a miss for me as well.

Last up is this L’Oreal eyeshadow. It’s HiP, which apparently stands for High Intensity Pigments. The colour is Roaring, and they do indeed look very bright. Blue and brown. I’m cool with brown, but I feel like blue is too strong of a colour and difficult to work with. Especially that bright. I like neutral palettes. I’m all about the neutrals and ‘light’ makeup.

Anyway, I gave it a go. I like the brown colour, it’s a stronger brown than I normally go for, but the eyeshadow goes on quite well and smoother than my other one. Maybe I’ve just been doing it wrong. Anyway, I wasn’t sure what to do with the blue, so I just gently placed some along my lash line. I feel like it looks okay there, especially as I put it on quite light. Still don’t like the blue in general though. But hey, it was fun to play with.

This was a lot of fun! It was cool to mess around with products I normally wouldn’t. I feel like I got $30 worth of experience out of this, so I may try this again some other time. I don’t know if I reviewed this well, and I feel like I got rambly and weird, but that’s just me. I don’t think I’d get this box every month though as then I would just build up a lot of products. I really like that moisturiser, I think that was my favourite. I love novelty things! 😀

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you liked reading it 😂
Putting on that lipstick was terrifying, when I put on the the nude ones I can’t even see it, but this one made me concentrate so hard to make sure I get it right 😂

    1. Thank you!! I never know how to feel about other beauty reviews cause they feel so professional and like they know what they’re talking about. So this was me, just deciding to screw it and say what i think 😂

  3. You wrote about your experience in such an adorable manner! You should do reviews more often, it’s definitely your thing. The lipstick looks lovely on you, you have to get used to the pop of colour, but it suits you very well. The blush.. oh well, here I cried with laughter 😀 You literally look burned. But it’s fine, it’s somewhat cute 😀

    1. Thank you Siyana! The lipstick definitely is something I need to wrap my head around. The blush is very pink, and I think I put on waay too much 😂 It doesn’t look right, and after the photo I wiped it off straight away 😂

  4. You should do more beauty posts. They’re hilarious 😂😂. You sound so out of place it’s funny…, but that’s by the way. Those bold red lips look so good on you.

  5. Loved this post- it was just so relatable in the way you talked about the products! While I wouldn’t say the blue is an everyday look, it does look awesome so if you’re ever going out or going for a more bold look, that is a keeper!

  6. I think the blush looks good on you! But I totally agree, I never used a stick blush nor do I ever really plan to, I like using a brush and sweeping it on! Also I feel you I’m not an eye shadow user either so I’d also have the same “what should I do with this blue” thought haha

    1. Aww, thanks Jenny! I don’t normally wear blush at all, as my face tends to run pink or even red without any help 😀
I don’t really know what to do with eyeshadow, or most makeup things in general, I just like playing with eyeliner 😂

  7. Looks like you had fun with the box of goodies. The lipstick’s a nice look. Regarding the subscription idea, I go through makeup so slowly. How do people buy a weekly/ monthly subscription to a whole box of stuff? Are they eating it?

      1. XD yep. Definitely not something I normally use, but it wasn’t too bad I felt once I got over the shock of it 😀
I just feel like I would chew it off eventually during the day.

  8. I like the red lip on you but fair enough if it’s not really your thing 🙂 the packaging is SO MAC lol! The moisturiser sounds lovely, it’s nice when a moisturiser is light on the skin and doesn’t fell heavy. I never wear eyeliner but how do you get your line so precise?
