Well hey friends, welcome to another round of coffee catch ups. I did one of these last month, which you can findΒ here. Also,

Another unusual TBT, but I like to do these at the end of each month.

I’m cold over here, so I’m having a hot chocolate. Also some kinda snack cause I’m peckish. You get what you feel like πŸ™‚

Okay, so here’s what’s been rattling around my brain from this month.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how excited I am that my “Have You Met” series is going really well. I’ve been loving diving more into my favourite blogs and finding out more about them and sharing my favourite posts of theirs. Each time, new people find their blogs, and everyone has lovely conversations in the comments. It’s so much fun!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that while filming and editing the Q’n’A video was a lot of fun, it also cost me a lot of energy. I was so exhausted after all of it. But after a sleep, I realized I just needed to manage my timing better, I tried to do this all after a day’s work and by then I’m already tired. Better to save this kind of thing for the weekend where I have more time.

If we were having coffee, I’d lowkey say that I’m looking more into going self-hosted. I was considering the personal plan only, but to be honest, I find it more appealing to fully dive into a self hosted blog. To make it completely my own. I still want to research heaps before going into it. Like which provider to go with. There’s so many… But I am planning to make this move sometime near the end of July.

If we were havingΒ coffee,Β I’d tell you that I wish I had more time for my hobbies. Baking, cross-stitching, puzzles, playing games, reading…I love blogging, don’t get me wrong. But I now find myself expending most of my energy on it, that sometimes I don’t have time to do everything else I want. Of course, I also work full time on top of that. Sometimes I wish I worked in a kindergarten instead of a daycare, so then I could have school holidays back. But I think I’d miss my babies too much.

If we were having coffee, I’d be practically bouncing out of my seat to tell you how excited I am for tomorrow. Why? You may ask (as I continue bouncing around spilling my hot chocolate everywhere). Well I got an email from our wedding photographer that the rest of our wedding photos are scheduled to be sent to us tomorrow. That’s aaaallll the photos he took, there should be a few hundred at least, and he was with us all day, so going through them all will be like reliving the day. I loved the previews (which is what I keep showing you guys all the time), and I cannot wait to see the rest!!

If we were having coffee, I’d mop up all the hot chocolate everywhere before telling you about how I’m also excited about getting my second tattoo this weekend too. Lots of exciting things happening and I just want this week to be over already!!

What would you want to talk about if we were having coffee?

Angela.

  1. I am kinda looking into going self hosted but I don’t have the energy quite yet. We’ll see! I’m on the personal plan and I am okay with that for now. I totally understand what you mean about hobbies. Now that I blog five times a week it takes much longer than when it was just three. I’m worried I’ll be too busy for a video but I’ll make time! And I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures!!!
If we were having coffee I’d talk your ear off about ballet probably! That’s the new big thing in my life!! πŸ˜€

    1. I’ve been considering self hosted for a while. I thought about the personal plan but i figure if im going to pay for a plan, I’d rather just dive straight into self hosting.
Ooh I’d love to hear more about ballet! That sounds like so much fun! I love dancing in general but I’m so uncoordinated πŸ˜‚

      1. Good point! I think I would like to probably switch before renewing for another year on the personal plan but it’ll depend if I’m in school or not!
It is quite fun! I have another class tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it quite a bit!

  2. That would be so neat if you went self-hosted! I admire all bloggers who do; I don’t know if I’ll ever be up for it myself, haha. The worry of followers not transferring over, as well as other aspects to switching, make me a little nervous, and because I’m happy with blogging the way I am now, I don’t know if self-hosted would be worth it for me. I’d have to research it a lot more! Also your Have You Met series is so awesome! I’m a bit behind on blog reading, so I’ve missed those posts, but I plan on going back to check out all the great bloggers you’ve written about πŸ˜€

  3. Some questions others obviously get …why pay for WordPress rather than use for free? Does self hosting mean having own website so, if people wanted to use blog they would have to go to that website? I like the reader on WordPress and having all in one place, would be hassle to look at lots of different websites.

    1. All fair questions!
I want to pay for my own site so I get more creative control over my blog. I love using wordpress, but I want to be able to do more than what is available on the free site. Also, I’m running out of space on my media πŸ˜€
Second, self hosting does mean you’re on a different platform, but you can connect it to WordPress. I’ll bring all my followers over, and my posts will still appear in the reader I believe. It depends on the host you choose to go with, some may just show an excerpt and then you’ll need to click over on the site. I’m still researching it all though, but I’m excited to go through with it!

      1. Thanks for responses. So with own site can format differently I.e have more creative control. I do sometimes get messages about memory, so one day I will run out? I think someone said if deleted store of images, it deletes from original post.

  4. Ohhh I hope you’re thinking about doing a post about all those photos. Today must have been a really exciting day for you. I understand that part about needing more time for hobbies. Sometimes it just gets too hard to find time. I hope your dress didn’t get stained from all that spilled coffee! πŸ˜‰

      1. Ohhh if you’re moving to self-hosted, space won’t be much of an issue anymore. πŸ˜‰ Btw quick question, Angela, do you normally optimize the photos before uploading? I do that and it helps me save a lot of space without compromising the quality of the photos. πŸ™‚

  5. If we were having coffee….I would try and sit there for hours so I don’t have to come home and pack some more for the move πŸ™‚ maybe some chocolate cake with real cream as well….we can share………NOT lol

If we were having coffee, I’ll talk about how blogging is pretty expensive. Money and time wise.

    1. I mean, I can’t make any promises. I’m pretty excited about these upcoming things πŸ˜€
Blogging does take a lot of time. Money wise it hasn’t affected me too much, but it will when I start self hosting. But I’m excited about what will happen πŸ˜€

It’s something to be excited about for sure, though I read from a lot of people that go self hosted that it’s then you then see how WordPress has been good to give so much features, though your excitement for it might douse you see I I how hard it may be. Paying for plug ins and all of that.

  8. I understand where you’re coming from with the other hobbies point, alongside work squeezing it all in can be hard sometimes. I like this style of post, I hope you continue to do more. The self- hosted bit sounds pretty exciting too!

    1. Thanks Chanelle! It is hard to balance everything on top of working full time, trying to keep our house liveable, blogging, and then to fit in everything else I want to do πŸ˜‚

  9. oooh what tattoo are you getting and where? If we were having coffee I would talk about how excited I am to be visiting family and catching up with friends. How blessed I feel that I have the opportunity to do what I love. How it’s been great signing up for a workout camp but how sore I usually feel afterwards, Lastly I would talk about my plans for the blog, designing and buying my domain soon.
