Day 20 – A Favourite Actress

Again, I have a few!

Emma Watson

Do I need to explain why she’s a favourite at this point? Emma is clever, outspoken, passionate, stylish, and an amazing role model. She has also been in numerous movies since Harry Potter, as well as getting involved in other projects like being a UN Goodwill Ambassador, setting up “Our Shared Shelf”, and so much more!

Amy Poehler

Another actress and general role models that I often talk about. Amy both acted and wrote a huge part of Parks and Recreation which is one of the best shows ever! She’s also so hilarious, witty, and such an inspiration! You guys know my favourite quote of hers, from her biography Yes Please: “Good for her, not for me”.

Anna Kendrick

There’s just something about Anna. I’ve always liked her since Pitch Perfect. Then she showed up in a lot of other musicals (Into the Woods, The Last Five Years), and I liked her in those two. Also, she’s kinda weird in that ‘relatable’ way, but she doesn’t get on my nerves like Jennifer Lawrence does (I like her too, but lately not so much and I can’t pinpoint why).

There you have it! Three of my favourite actresses.

What do you guys think of these actresses?

Who are some of your favourite actresses?

Don’t forget to check out Hannah’s posts as well!

Chinese Garden of Friendship

Chinese Garden of Friendship

Another favourite place we visited in Sydney was the Chinese Garden of Friendship. We were staying in Haymarket, and this was only a few minutes away, and the website had some neat pictures. Let me say, that the pictures does not do justice to the real thing. This garden symbolises the friendship between the people of Guangzhou (a  southern Chinese city, in the Guangdong province), and Sydney, hence the name.

As you come through the Main Entrance and go though the courtyard, you come across the Dragon Wall. Then as you keep going, you feel as though you’re entering another world.

We spent almost two hours here, simply walking around and taking in everything. It’s so peaceful and tranquil and there was always something new to look at.

Moving on, there was lots of bridges and pavilions to look out from. There was also lots of different trees and plants. We couldn’t help taking lots of photos everywhere we looked.

As we made our way up and down the winding paths, we’d often stop to take photos, and then spend longer just looking around. It was a great way to start off our stay in Sydney.

We spent our whole morning at the garden, and we only left because we got hungry and needed to go to the grocery store to buy stuff for the week.

We would have loved to come back, but there was so much more stuff in Sydney we also wanted to see. If you ever go to Sydney, do not miss a stop at the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Photos of the place are amazing, but being there is like being in another world.

Love The Skin You’re In Tag

Love The Skin You’re In Tag

Hey all! Time for another new tag 😀

Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog in your post
  • Display the “love the skin you’re in” image.
  • Be truthful when answering the questions and don’t judge what other people have answered in their posts.
  • If you want to add any questions to this tag related to body positivity feel free to.
  • Try to nominate as many people as you can, if not everyone.

Liliana created this amazing tag that’s all about self love and body positivity! She tagged me to take part, and I totally forgot until I saw Ella‘s post about it a few days ago! So sorry it took me a while Lil, but let’s get into this tag!!

One feature you love about yourself

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but for a physical feature, I would say my hands. They’re obviously super useful. But also, they just seem delicate and pretty, kind of a weird statement to make about hands, but that’s how I feel about mine 😀

One feature you wish/wished you could change that you are trying to accept or have accepted?

My teeth. They’re fairly even, but some are crowded. However they’re still symmetrical funnily enough, just two are slightly more forward than everything else. For the longest time, I was self conscious of it. But as time went on, I grew to accept it. Now, it’s just my smile, crazy teeth and all.

Have you ever thought of getting surgery to change you imperfections?

I’ve considered laser eye surgery, but the more I learn about it, the less eager I am. But I would love to correct my vision. That’s about the only surgery I would consider doing.

One of your main role models for body positivity?

Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know if I have a role model specifically for body positivity. In general, I look up to Amy Poehler and Emma Watson for general empowerment and positivity 🙂

Has a family member or friend ever put you down about your physical appearance? If so what for?

Not really a family member of friend. I do remember in middle/high school, comments that bugged me, but they were said by randoms around that I didn’t really have a personal relationship with. I remember they were related to acne, as I had really bad skin in middle school. I got the obligatory comments about my glasses. I got called ‘shorty’ a lot, which is more of a fact than a snarky comment.

Something you love about your fashion sense or style?

It’s comfortable? I don’t know, I tend to wear what I want. If it’s comfortable and makes me feel good, then I’ll wear it.

Why is your body a great place to be?

I mean, it could be better. I still mean to look after it better and commit to a healthier lifestyle, or at least work out more. But in general, it’s a great place to be cause I’m happy in it and I’m taking (fairly) good care of it.

Lil also added in a bit at the bottom where she asks to include “photo of yourself when you felt the most confident”. I’ve chosen the photo of me floating in a pool in Taveuni during my honeymoon. Why this one? Well, it was the first time I wore a two piece, and also I just love this photo 😀

As for nominations, I like to open it up to everyone. These questions are great to reflect on and even if you don’t make a post about it, I encourage you to think on these questions 🙂
