If We Were Having Coffee

I was considering not doing these anymore, but I absolutely love these coffee catch up posts! So, without further ado, let’s have our first coffee catch up of 2018!

I’m grabbing my usual instant coffee in the morning. It’s a vanilla latte, and I will be having it from my giant mug.

If we were having coffee, I would talk about how nice my recent break over Christmas and New Years was. It’s the longest break I’ve taken from work since getting married, and we didn’t do much. We did short little day visits, but some days we just stayed home and relaxed. I played a lot of Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s been a while since I’ve spent a day just playing video games, and it was a lot of fun.

If we were having coffee, I’d talk about how I’m still fairly focused when it comes to my 2018 resolutions. I normally bail out after a week, but I’m still going strong on a lot of them. I’ve been doing some workouts, reading books, completing Japanese lessons on duolingo, baking, and I’ve even been able to work on my photography! I hope I can keep that motivation going.

If we were having coffee, I would go on and on about Japan. We finally bought tickets, and we’re off in May. May!! It’s still a few months away, but I’m sure it will arrive in no time! I’ve booked hotels already, and now I’m looking at things to do and places to see there! I have a friend in Japan currently (she’s teaching English there), and we’re hoping to meet up for a bit there too. I haven’t seen her in years, so that should be fun as well!

If we were having coffee, I’d share this video with you guys, because I’ve been obsessed with it. I love this song by Imagine Dragons, and this video is just so cool!

If we were having coffee, I’d ask how 2018 is going for you guys so far? Are you settling back into familiar routines?

  1. I’m so excited (and a little jealous) for your Japan trip in May! I have been there twice when I was living in Asia, and it was so much fun. There’s just so much to see and do. Which part of Japan are you going to?

    1. We’re so excited!! We plan to visit Tokyo, Kyoto and maybe Osaka. We don’t think we’ll have time to visit anymore though. We’re still exploring all the possible places to see there, we want to do as much as we can, as it’ll probably be a loooong time before we’d be able to visit again haha!

  2. You must be so excited about Japan! I’d love to do that but it seems daunting too, I think because there is such a language and culture barrier it makes me more nervous, but that’s part of the fun of traveling isn’t it 😉

    1. It’s so exciting! The language and culture barrier is definitely pretty scary though. But when I went to Peru, it was the same thing. I learnt basic Spanish to get by, but there was still lots of confusing moments haha! Rory and I are learning some basic Japanese which will hopefully help us when we go visit! 😀

    1. We’re so excited! Ahh!! That’s so cool that you guys have been! What do you recommend we see there? We’ll be spending most of our time in Tokyo, but we’ll be visiting Kyoto for a few days as well 😀

      1. Its over 10 years since I went but Im sure things are still similar! If you can get out to do a trip to Mount Fuji, definitely do. The fish market is worth a trip and a great place to eat awesome sushi! There are so many awesome districts to explore in Tokyo, like Harajuku and Shibuya. In Kyoto, try and spend a night in a traditional ryokan, they can be quite expensive but it’s so worth it and an amazing experience. If you have time whilst your there a day out to Nara is great. Ooooo it makes me so excited, I’m dying to go back!! x

  3. Please do’t stop writing these coffee posts, I love them!

Anyway, great that you’re keeping up with your resolutions, so am I 😀
And I’m excited for your trip! I’m slowly saving up some money to start going places, we are already planning one for spring 🙂
The 600 person choir vid is pretty cool, I recently saw a video from Rockin’ 1000, one thousand musicians (singers, guitarists, bassists, drummers) came together and they performed one of my favorite Nirvana songs, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and it was awesome! It sounded so synchronized, just like the video above 🙂

    1. Vanilla latte is an amazing way to start the day ?
That’s cool that we’re both keeping up with our resolutions! Go us!
