Bump Update (13 Weeks In)

So I’ve been wanting to do updates on my pregnancy. I was going to do it weekly, but that seemed like too much, so I’m thinking, like, maybe every two weeks.

How I’m Doing

I’ve just entered into my 14th week. Baby is now the size of a lemon. I’ve been squinting at my stomach pretty much everyday trying to figure out if I’m showing. I honestly can’t tell. Sometimes it seems like I’m showing a little, other times I look the same, even if I feel different. The main difference I’ve noticed the past week, is that I get hungry at really random times. It feels like my blood sugar levels drop at random times, which doesn’t help since my work has very structured break times. But since everyone knows I’m pregnant, they don’t mind that I’m sitting there munching on crackers with all the toddlers.

The Bad

The past three months have been a whirlwind in terms of symptoms, and both emotional and physical changes. I hear that the first trimester is often considered one of the hardest because of all the symptoms. Nausea, food aversions, exhaustion, random body aches, mood swings and constipation are just a few of the symptoms that bombard you, and most times, you haven’t told people you’re pregnant yet, so you can’t really complain about it too much.

The Good

On the other side, I have loved being able to share the news of the pregnancy with everyone. Especially with family and close friends. A baby is very exciting news, and it’s been so much fun being able to share in that with everybody. I’ve also liked looking through maternity clothes options as I’ll probably start showing within the next month.Β  One of the best parts so far though, has been the ultrasounds. I think for both Rory and I, it really has made the pregnancy more concrete. We get to see the little baby somersaulting around and fidgeting all over the show. He/she is definitely real and growing fast!

The Random

So I’m still not sure what counts as a pregnancy craving, or just a regular craving. But I have been eating at least three oranges a day these past two weeks, and I want more. So that could be one. Also, mashed potatoes. I’ve been insisting on them as a side for dinner at least 5 times a week, so that may be one too.

The Questions

So, we’ve been asked a fair bit if we’ve started buying anything for baby, or decorating the nursery. The answer is, no, we haven’t really thought about it yet. Outside of a random pair of shoes (and a onesie) that I impulsively bought cause they looked cute. There’s still plenty of time to nest, I’ve only now entered the second trimester after all.

That’s all for this update! I like getting all my thoughts out like this, it’ll be cool to continue these as time goes on πŸ™‚

  1. The oranges will be great for your immune system, so that’s not that bad of a craving haha but be mindful that too much vitamin C will have you on the toilet! I get the mashed potato craving on the regular and I’m not even pregnant 🀣

  2. I love that you’re posting pregnancy updates! I agree that once a week would probably be too much, you’ll be so busy with work and getting ready for the baby that you might burn yourself out. That’s so funny that you’ve been craving oranges! When my Mom was pregnant with my brother she had cravings for Campbells Chunky Soup and Gingerale, we were so sick of that soup! My Dad actually had to hide his gingerale so she wouldn’t drink it all xD

    1. It’s such a big part of what’s going on in my life, that I knew I wanted to post about it. Once a week seemed like too much though haha! It’s funny how cravings kick in! I’ll just be sitting around thinking about nothing, then the thought of mashed potatoes pops up, and it won’t leave until I eat some πŸ˜€
