Instagram in April

Hello all! We are now in May, it’s almost halfway through the year! You guys seemed to really enjoy my previousΒ Instagram in March, so I think I will definitely keep this as a series. Also, I just realised that I’ve now been blogging for two months! Two whole months of daily rambles! Thanks for sticking around you guys πŸ˜€

Here are my top photos from the past month!

Wedding Cake and Cupcakes. This was posted on April 7. I don’t remember if I talked about the desserts we had at the wedding. I wanted to share with everyone how incredible our wedding cake and cupcakes looked! I can’t share with you all how it tasted, but trust me it was amazing! Our cake was lemon and raspberry with buttercream roses frosting. The cupcakes were a mixture of Peanut Butter Chocolate, Mocha and Mint Chocolate. They were a great hit at our wedding. Literally 10 minutes after dessert was announced, 90% of them got snapped up. Our photographer, Kent, even took one home! πŸ˜„

April Favourites

April Favourites

Hello!! It’s that time again. Here are my favourites for the month of April. (Can you believe tomorrow will be May? I can’t)

Quick sidenote, I apparently haven’t watched much movies this month.

Beauty and the Beast

So I watched this late, really late. But it originally came out around wedding time so you understand I had other priorities. I really liked this movie though. I’m not actually a fan of the original Beauty and the Beast, I preferred other Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan… That being said, I enjoyed this live action retelling. Also, the songs are just as catchy as ever, and Emma sings really sweetly. She’s definitely not a powerhouse but it suits Belle perfectly.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

I loved the first Guardians of the Galaxy. It was so refreshing to see a superhero movie that didn’t take it seriously. The sequel is just as good. We dive more into Quill’s lineage, and we also get to spend more time with Nebula and Yondu which I liked. Basically, even if you’re not into superhero movies, this movie is a lot of fun. It sucks you into the world, and it’s so damn funny. Also, baby Groot does more dancing πŸ™‚

Angela’s Favourite Musicals

Angela’s Favourite Musicals

Okay, so my kryptonite is musicals. I’ve seen a lot of them, especially the newer ones. I’ve always loved music, and I wish I had that level of singing and dancing skills, but for now I’m happy to just jump around and sing along. I watched a few while I was away, because we had downtime, and why not?

I’m going to exclude some from this list as I don’t technically count them as musicals. That is Disney, Broadway shows (I seriously still can’t stop listening to Hamilton), movies where the characters sing only on karaoke or on stage (it’s not quite the same), and television shows (go watch Galavant, it’s brilliant). Okay, here we go.

So here’s my list of musicals that I have watched many times and still listen to the songs on a regular basis. I will narrow it down to five, because even with the restrictions I put, this list could go on forever.

The Last Five Years (2015)

I stumbled across “I Can Do Better than That” on tumblr and I really liked the song. So I did some digging and found where it came from. On first viewing, I was a little bored. But I listened to the soundtrack and got addicted to the songs. I also love the concept of the timeline. The musical starts with Cathy at the end of the relationship, and then Jamie at the beginning. Cathy goes backwards through the relationship through song, Jamie goes forward and the only time they meet up to sing together is when they get married.

Favourite song: “Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You”

Honorary Mentions: “See I’m Smiling” “Shiksa Goddess” “A Summer in Ohio” “I Can Do Better than That” – Okay, so I love a lot of the songs on the soundtrack, I struggled trying to narrow it down.

Instagram in March

So since posting my favourites of March yesterday, I thought I’d also start doing monthly postsΒ on my top things I’ve posted on Instagram. It’s the only social media I’m really active on anymore (besides this blog) and I thought this would be a fun experimental blog for me to make. I post a LOT of photos, I try to at least limit them to one a day. At the end of each month, I’ll see what everyone liked the most, andΒ share a little more about each photo. I’ll also upload them without the filters (I love Clarendon). Anyway, I’ll stick with a top 5, that’s a good number I think.

Got it? Okay, let’s get into it.

Engagement Photo by Kent Yu. This was posted on March 4. It was beautifully shot for our engagement shoot with Kent, and this is my personal favourite one. We shot this on Breaker Bay during ‘magic hour’ and Kent captured many beautiful moments. I posted it because it was exactly three weeks till our wedding, and I wanted to share one of our many engagement photos! I’ve used a couple more photos from this shoot in other blogs, likeΒ Discussions to Have Before MarriageΒ andΒ Lucky in Love.

March Favourites

March Favourites

Hello all,Β here is what I’ve been liking for the month of March. This is my first monthly favourites, and I hope to keep it going as a series!

We went and saw Logan in the theatres the weekend it came out. I had high hopes as reviews were looking good. I’m a fan of the first two X-Men movies, but I do feel like they’ve run their course, especially with the Wolverine spin-offs. But this one was different. I was tense for a lot of it, and I got sucked into the story line. The acting by Jackman, Stewart and newcomer Keen was amazing. The action sequences were a blast, basically I loved it. This is by far the best X-men movie, maybe even in the cinematic marvel universe. Go see it if Β you get a chance.

Your Name

Okay, so I saw this at the end of February, but I really enjoyed this movie. It’s about a girl and guy in high school who bodyswap. That’s all I’m going to leave it at, it was funny, touching, and had such beautiful cinematography, especially for an animation. It also had one hell of a plot twist.
