Here we are again! I have again been nominated for so many awards! I still prefer to write one post for each award, but I want to thank all the bloggers who nominated me again, and answer their questions!

Brown Kitty Cat nominated me for this a little after I uploaded the first Bonus Round! Crazy timing. She posts about beauty and fashion, and you should definitely check her out!

  • If you can grant one wish, what would it be?

Let’s get rid of cancer. Just straight up remove it from existence. That would be awesome.

  • If you can take someone’s identity in this world, who would it be?

That doesn’t really sound appealing to me. I like being me 😀

  • What do you like to do after a stressful week to unwind?

Colour, read, play games, hang out with Rory

  • What’s your favorite movie?

I have a few, but mostly I prefer to have favourite movie genres. Superhero, disney, musicals, etc.

  • What’s your favorite song?

Right now, it’s everything Ed Sheeran, Lorde or Alessia Cara.

  • What’s one fashion trend you love right now?

I honestly have no idea what fashion trends are happening right now…I like floral patterns, is that a thing?

  • Which makeup item you can’t live without?

Foundation, cause my face gets red a lot and I want to tone that down.

  • Which country would you like to visit and why?

Scotland.  Castles. Harry Potter. Loch Ness.

  • Dog or cat as a pet and why?

Cat. They’re a bit more chill and can look after themselves more.

  • Dress or pants and why?

Pants. Cause Wellington is windy and cold, even in summer its risky to wear a dress.

  • Flats or heels and why?

Flats. I’m used to them because of work. Or can I compromise and say wedges, as they’re comfy and don’t kill my feet if I’m in them all day at work.

  • What is your favorite hairstyle?

I like the whole half up, half down look. I always thought it suited me. But for work, I go ponytail, cause otherwise my hair is just in the way.

  • Do you have a hobby you’ve never tried but always wanted to?

Yes actually. I always thought knitting looked fun!

  • When you plan your dream vacations, what do you look for?

Sights, I want to see what things I can see on vacation that I wouldn’t be able to see otherwise.

  • What’s your favorite video game?

Ooh, I have quite a few. But I keep coming back to the Sims!

  • Do you have a favorite type of post you like to write?

A lot are favourites to write! But I really like talking about what’s going on in my life, especially the people in my life.

  • Where’s the most interesting place you’ve been?

Peru was for sure the most interesting. To be in another country, another culture, another language, on the other side of the world from home was both an amazing and kinda scary experience.

  • What are you smelling right now?

Nothing, but my nose is kinda blocked so that may be why.

  • Do you normally eat breakfast and, if so, what do you typically eat?

Yes. I normally have toast and coffee, or porridge and coffee, or cereal and coffee. Coffeeee.

  • What is your favorite season and why?

Summer. But when it’s not at it’s peak. Leading into summer, and out of summer we have really nice weather, it’s not too hot, and I can actually wear shorts and dresses.

  • Do you talk about your blog often to people you know?

Besides Rory? Umm, kinda. I talk about it with my sister every now and then, same with my best friend. It was brought up recently when I visited my parents. Dad was asking me what the blogging challenge was about.

  • What is one thing you can’t leave home without (besides the obvious phone/wallet/keys)?

My iPod. I need to have music with me when I go anywhere. I tend to feel lost walking around without it.

  • Would you rather spend a day shopping or doing sports?

Shopping.

  • If you could have 5 famous people, dead or alive, round for dinner who would you have?

Ooh okay. Amy Poehler, Emma Watson, Lin Manuel Miranda, Ed Sheeran and Maya Angelou. Kind of a weird combo, but all these people are so nice and clever, I’d love to sit in a room with them all and have a chat.

  • What is your favourite blog post from your blog?

Currently, it’s Things I Learnt From My Dad.

  • What is your favourite place you’ve ever visited?

Machu Picchu.

  • What is your favourite quote?

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

  • How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Short, happy and weird.

  • If you could change one mistake you’ve made in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Not technically a mistake, but I recall a time where I was rude and mean to my little brother cause he was ‘bugging’ me, but really he just wanted to hang out. I would go back in time and tell my younger self to stop being a moody teenager and appreciate our awesome little bro.

  • What’s your favourite film?

I answered that above 😀

  • What’s your favourite animal?

I’m gonna go with sloth.

  • What’s your favourite flower?

I have a soft spot for gyp, aka baby’s breath (which is a weird name)

  • What’s your most embarrassing moment?

Ever? I don’t know. I’ve tripped over a lot. Burst into tears in class. Waved to people who weren’t actually waving at me. One of those.

I have a terrible (and disgusting) habit at picking at scabs. Bug bites, random cuts and what not. I will pick at them until they scar 😦 Stop it me!! (Except for my tattoo, it peeled and scabbed a little, but I was really good at not making it worse!)

  • What has been the best/worst phase of your life?

Uhhh, that covers a whole variety of topics, so I’m not quite sure what to say.

  • What is your biggest pet peeve?

Lately, people who leave grocery carts anywhere in the carpark. Why?

  • Do you think your boyfriend/girlfriend should know your passwords?

Rory and I share a lot of our passwords/passcodes. Just for convenience sake.

  • What is the number one thing on your bucket list for 2017?

For this year, it’s now turning into buy a house.

  • What are you the most thankful for?

My family.

  • Are you religious?

Ish. I do believe in God, but I don’t really practice a religion.

  • Is it possible to stay friends with your exes?

I actually don’t have any exes so…

Legend of Korra

Legend of Korra

We’re back at it again with the A-Z Challenge. L is for Legend of Korra! Like with Jessica Jones, this show has an awesome female lead. It’s also another animation.

This takes place in the same world as Avatar: The Last Airbender, with Korra as the next Avatar.

I heard about this show after I finished Avatar, as a big fan of that show, I was interested. I didn’t really get into this show as much. It took a while to suck me in. But Book 3 itself was outstanding enough to convince me to include it on this list. Korra’s story is a lot different to Aang’s. All three books of Avatar deal with one big overarching storyline, while each of the four books of Korra’s story have a different theme.

30 Days of Blogging Challenge – Day 25

Here we are at Day 25, I’ve been doing this all month with Maggie and Cheila! We’re nearing the end of the challenge. Today’s prompt is about Things I Would Still Like to Learn.

Sounds easy enough, this will probably be similar to goals I have set for myself, as well as some random thoughts. I also thought I’d include random images, cause you guys know I like having pictures, even when sometimes they weren’t taken by me.

I Would Still Like to Learn:

  • How to improvise meals – I’m great at following recipes and instructions, but if you just give me ingredients and say “Go for it”, I will look at you blankly.

  • How to look after a car – I’m still in the process of driving more frequently, but that’s getting rarer and rarer, but I still want to know how to look after a car. So far, Rory has shown me how to change the oil (which I’ve already forgotten), and how to fill up the tank (which I have done successfully a few times!!).

  • Tagalog – I always say I want to make an effort on this, but I never do. Last I checked Duolingo doesn’t have a course in tagalog. Any other apps you guys can recommend?

  • This is more relearn, as I haven’t touched any in a while. But the ukulele, piano and flute. I really want to relearn all those skills.

  • How to swim – I mean I can kinda float for a while, and I’m not too bad. But I’d like to learn proper techniques. Plus its an exercise I actually really enjoy.

  • How to properly use a sewing machine – I know how useful it is and what it can do. I just don’t know how to use it properly.

  • How to motivate myself to clean every weekend – Like seriously, it’s getting ridiculous. Look at our carpet. It needs vacumming…

  • Finally, I still have to learn not to let my optimism run rampant. I was starting to daydream about owning that house we put an offer in on, and we just heard back that the seller has gone with another offer (sigh). It would have been way too convenient for us to get the first home we ever went for I suppose. I’m kinda bummed, but now we know how the whole process works. We just need to wait until we see another house that we can see as a future home.

That’s all I can think of for now.

Golden Bay

Golden Bay

Welcome to another TBT! Today is about when we visited Golden Bay in Nelson. This was during our Christmas Holidays in the South Island back in 2009.

Golden Bay is located around Nelson, a few hours drive from Blenheim (in the South Island) where we were spending Christmas with our extended family. We often went for little day trips, and one day Dad suggested this. The name alone sounded intriguing, and we were all keen to go out for a day trip.

It was very pretty, and very busy! Especially since it was the summer holidays.

Evanescent

The theme of this week’s photo challenge is Evanescent.

I’m going to be totally honest. I had no idea what that meant. My  first thought was of that band Evanescence, but I figured that wasn’t right. It took reading the definition a couple of times to finally figure out what photos I wanted to share.

  1. Soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing.

So for my interpretation, I thought about Pohutukawa. For those not in New Zealand, the Pohutukawa is a native flower and a kiwi icon.

During summer, the trees go into full bloom, the red flowers bring the promise of summer, and for us Christmas! Red and green are traditional Christmas colours, and who needs Christmas trees when you have Pohutukawa lining the streets.

My family often spends Christmas in the South Island, and in our grandparents front yard, they have a Pohutukawa tree.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that tree not in bloom. Then again, we only ever visit in summer. Every year, we know we will see that tree. I love these flowers, the colour is so vibrant, and their association with summer and Christmas doesn’t hurt my opinion of them either.

But too soon, the flowers fall on the ground, making somewhat of a mess. But decorating the ground with their colour. It’s a reminder  that summer is at an end, and soon it will be cold again.

Then everything is back to just green, and we wait.

That’s my interpretation for this week’s photo challenge. A moment in time that passes or disappears quickly. Evanescent.

30 Days of Blogging Challenge – Day 24

Welcome back to the blogging challenge, we made it to Day 24, Maggie and Cheila!

So, Day 24 is about Handy Tips I’ve Learned.

I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks, but I forget a lot of them just as easily. I’ll do my best to list them here.

  • When getting dressed in winter, place your jeans or top on the heater (but please don’t burn the house down, do it safely!), so when you finally pull off pyjamas, you can get into nice, toasty clothes 😀
  • Don’t pop pimples! They scar, and then takes ages to go away. What I was told to do, is get a cloth, soak it in hot (not boiling!) water, then place it on top of the pimple and press down for a bit. Do this for one or two nights, and it gets smaller and goes away in a few days. This at least works for me, but may not work for everyone.
  • Do dishes every night. Seriously, don’t ever leave it, cause then you suddenly have a mountain. But doing it every night means you never run out of dishes, and it’s just a small hill to tackle once a day.
  • Plan everything! It helps me to stay organised and stay on track, I love my calendar, both my wall one and my phone one. I did this back at school and uni too, I always noted down when papers or tests were due, so I could plan when to start studying or start assignments.
  • When it comes to motivation, music helps a lot. Especially for workouts, or doing household chores. Find a song that gets you ‘hyped’ (for me that’s the Hamilton soundtrack ahaha), and then do it.
  • To squeeze out as much as you can from toothpaste tubes, roll the end of it.

That’s literally all I can think of right now. I’m sure I have more, but suddenly having to write them down, I’m drawing a blank.

Cardigans!! I have so many, and I love them all so much.

Oh gosh, I write so many different kinds. I like the ones I write about my family. Things I Learnt From My Dad is very special to me, and with more birthdays coming up, I’m going to be writing more ‘letters’ to my family members. I also really like my photo heavy ones, as I’m still learning more about photography, but I love experimenting with it. I really like participating in the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge!

  • Where would you choose to go on your dream vacation?

I have many places I would love to go. One of the main ones would be Europe. I would love to be able to see so many places in Europe. I feel like one of those big train rides that go for days and go through lots of cities and countries would be an amazing holiday!

The networking! Commenting and reading other posts, seeing what you guys think of my own posts. It’s all so much fun 😀

  • What beauty product could you not live without?

I’m gonna go with foundation. I don’t use too much of it, just enough to even out my skin tone, as I get lots of reddish patches, and it bugs me.
