Darlington Harbour

Darlington Harbour

The hotel we were staying at was in Haymarket, which is a few minutes walk away from Darlington Harbour. Wellington Harbour is nice, but it’s tiny compared to Darlington (I mean, so is Wellington in regards to Sydney, to be honest). We were there practically every day and evening, just walking along and having a look at everything that was going on. We also took in a lot of the attractions there, such as the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife Zoo Sydney and Madame Tussauds Sydney. We also ended our trip by taking a dinner cruise on our last night in Sydney. Darlington Harbour is just as good (if not better) at night.

So I finished the A-Z Challenge last week. I started it all the way back in early April and posted on this twice a week till mid-July. I had so much fun trying to think of what shows to recommend for each letter of the alphabet. As a wrap up post, I’m going to list all the shows I talked about!

A is for Avatar: The Last Airbender

Day 17 – The Best Movie You Saw During the Last Year

So I saw this Β twice in the theatre. That’s how much I liked it. I was vaguely aware of it when it came out as kids in my centre started talking about Β it. I looked up a few songs and I was hooked.

I have heard this countless times and I still love it. I also love Alessia Cara’s version too!

Then I went and saw the movies and felt so many emotions. I don’t know why it made me feel all the things, but it did. I even cried in it. I have since watched it a few more times and I love to sing along. I still hear the songs in my centre every now and then, and honestly I sing as loud as the kids do. Even the babies love it πŸ™‚

I feel like I talk about animations a lot, but I can’t help it. They’re so good, and I watch a lot of them.

Have you guys seen Moana?

What’s the best movie you’ve seen during the last year?

Tongariro Crossing

Tongariro Crossing

As the title says, I did the Tongariro Alpine Crossing back in February. My partner, Rory, had done this before a fair few years ago, but I never have. As a native New Zealander, and a kind of fan of Lord of the Rings, it has been on my to-do list for a while. Now I’m not in the best shape, but this hike didn’t seem too daunting. At least not as bad as the Salkantay Trek up to Machu Picchu I did a few years back.Β So, a deal came up on TreatMe, we took it and went over Waitangi Weekend (February 6, a public holiday in NZ)

If anyone is interested, here’s a link to a map of the day hike:Β Tongariro Crossing

We stayed at a lodge in Owhango, and got dropped off at around 7am at the Mangatepopo carpark. Already at the beginning, there was a lot of people. This is a very popular day hike (one of the most popular), especially on a weekend in summer. The guide who dropped us off said there was likely 1200 people hiking on this day. This led to very long lines for the toilet, as they are far and few between on this hike. So after a not-so-quick rest stop, we set off at around 7.20am. This hike is said to take around 5 1/2 to 6 hours if you’re just doing the main walk, so we were looking at finishing at around 1-1.30pm.

Weekend Review #10

Weekend Review #10

Woke up at 8am today. Late for me again. I caught up on lots of messages on What’s App, flicked through Insta, then caught up on blog. After all that I dragged myself into the cold and got ready for the day.

By the way, the weather has been crap the past week. A storm passed by in the later half of the week. Gale winds, crazy rain, all that jazz. No thunder though. It’s passed now however. But Thursday and Friday were good fun walking to work.

Anyway, we got laundry sorted by around 9.30am. Then we had breakfast. Our usual Saturday morning choice of scrambled eggs. Then I carried on blogging. At 11, we headed out.

I insisted on stopping by Farmers first as I ran out of foundation. I like Garnier’s BB cream, it’s just so light and blends nicely with my skin. It’s actually the first product I’ve finished in years!

Day 16 – The Last Movie You Saw in the Theatre

Spider-Man: Homecoming

I literally watched this last night.

This movie was so much fun you guys! I love the movies where they takes themselves a little less seriously. It was light, funny and filled with action and laughs. It made for a good night actually. I could totally see myself seeing this again!

It did feel a little like an Iron Man spin off as well though, Robert Downey Jr is making cameos all over the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But I really enjoyed the film overall. I like this new spiderman, he actually looks like he could go to high school/college. Plus I like that they included a lot more school things in this movie, it feels like a cross between a teen movie and a superhero movie.

Anyway, I’ve gushed about this long enough. Definitely check it out!

What’s the last movie you’ve seen in the theatre?
