Bonus post! Azra has tagged me for this amazing tag where I answer loads of questions. 47 in fact! So get ready for a lot of information.

1. What are you currently wearing?

Right now, I’m in my favourite blue dress.

2. Have you ever been in love?

Yes, just the once. But we’re still together so yay!

3. Did you ever had a terrible breakup?

Nope. I’ve only ever been in one relationship, and I’m lucky that it stuck.

4. How old are you?

26. One more year till I’m officially in my late 20’s.

5. How tall are you?

Last I checked, around 155cm. So 5 foot. I’m tiny.

6. How much do you weigh?

Last I checked, 56 kg.

7. Do you have any piercings?

Just the regular ear ones. Although I have been considering getting a few more in my ear.

8. Do you have any tattoos?

I have three, which I often don’t stop talking about, and I plan to get more in the future.

9. What’s your favorite drink?

Soda, but I try to hold back as it’s packed full of sugar. Also, chocolate milk is still amazing. I don’t really drink alcohol so if that’s what this question meant, I can’t really say.

10. What’s your favorite song?

It changes from week to week. Right now it’s I Miss You.

11. What’s your Zodiac sign?

Sagittarius

12. How long does it take you to shower?

Normally 15-20 minutes. I don’t normally take too long. Unless it’s winter, then sometimes I don’t want to leave the warmth.

13. What’s your favorite show?

I don’t really have one. Like with music, it changes a lot.

14. What’s your favorite band?

I don’t have a favourite band. I have songs I really like and get into, but they change. If the question asked for favourite artist, then I would probably say Ed Sheeran.

15. Something you really miss?

The convenience of living in town. I love our house, but it now takes a 20 minute drive to get to any shops. It was so much fun (but bad for my wallet) when all the big shops were just a 10 minute walk from my house.

16. Where do you go when you’re sad?

Bed normally. I just have a lie down and cry, if I’m really sad or overwhelmed. Normally though, I try distract myself.

17. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

An hour. I like having a morning shower, so I need time for my hair to dry. Then I have breakfast and get dressed. Depending on whether or not I have work though, my makeup and hair time can depend. If I’m heading to work, the whole routine can take 15-20 minutes. In the weekend though, I like to play around, and it can sometimes take me another whole hour to get ready haha.

18. Have you ever been in a physical fight?

No. I’m not a fighter. I’d rather try talk things out.

19. What turns you on?

My husband.

20. What turns you off?

Bad smells I guess. Like there’s always that one kind of body spray that they have those ads for. The really strong smelling ones that are meant to make ladies flock to you. In high school, I used to know boys who would douse themselves in it rather than use deodorant. It was gross.

21. Quality you look for in a partner?

Humour and similar interests. Being cute doesn’t hurt either.

22. What’s your favorite color?

Blues. Light blue and dark blues.

23. Loud music or soft?

Depends on my mood. I’m a fan of both.

24. Favorite Quote?

A.A. Milne “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”. I’ve also recently learnt that there’s a little extra bit at the end. It makes me love this quote so much more.

25. Favorite actor?

I have no idea. Like my favourite show and music, they always change. Right now, I don’t think I have one though.

26. Do you have any fears? What are they?

Losing loved ones is something I think most people fear. Even just the thought of losing someone I love is enough to make me scared.

27. What’s the last thing that made you cry?

I woke up a few nights ago and had a cry. I’m not sure if I was just really tired or just stressed out from work, but it took me a while to calm down. That hasn’t happened to me in years. Maybe it was overdue.

28. Meaning behind your Blog Name?

Life of Angela isn’t really a hard blog name to figure out. I talk about my life.

29. Last time you said you loved someone?

This morning as I said bye to Rory and headed to work.

In high school I played flute, but I haven’t touched it in years. I still occasionally play the piano and ukulele.

On Saturday, I went out with Sarah and we hung out at the cat cafe as well as catching up. It was nice!

  • What is your biggest blogging goal for this year?

I wrote it down in my 2018 Resolutions post, but it’s to reach 5000 followers. I decided to just put down an insane number, but my blog keeps surprising me, so we’ll see what happens.

  • What is next destination on your travel bucket list?

Japan!! We bought our tickets last week, and we’re heading off in May. I’m so excited!!

  • What is one thing that you wish you can do but you are scared to do?

Something crazy like bungee jumping or sky-diving. It sounds like an incredible experience, but also terrifying you know.

  • What is your current favorite meal to have?

Pizza.

  • What is your favorite dessert?

So many. Cookies. Cheesecake. Pancakes. Everything sweet.

  • What is last movie you saw and did you like it?

The Greatest Showman. I quite liked it. It was aesthetically pleasing, I loved the songs and all the dancing. Plot wise and character wise though, it was a little weak.

I like reading a whole range. Travel ones are cool as I get to see new places. Lifestyle ones are fun as I like knowing what you guys get up to. Beauty ones are fascinating as I’m trying to learn more about makeup. I follow a huge range of bloggers really.

Finally, as you may have saw in the title. My blog has reached yet another milestone. They seem to be piling on fast lately, and I have no idea why but I’m thrilled! My blog has past the 2400 follower mark, and while some seem to be random business accounts, I still appreciate that more people find my blog and are interested enough to want to read more! I really feel like I should do a special post for the 2500 mark, so I’ll put on my thinking hat and hopefully come up with something good!

  • What is your best achievement to date?

Buying a house! That’s a huge life milestone.

  • What is your most essential beauty item? (Can be makeup, skincare or hair styling products etc.)

I’m going to go with moisturizer. Cause my skin gets dry a lot, so I need it.

  • If you could ask your future self one question what would it be?

How far in the future are we going? 30’s? 40s? 50s? 60s? 70s? Further?? If it’s not too far in the future, then I’d ask if we ever go back to study our Masters in Education, or if we get to travel more.

  • What is your favourite season? Why?

I’ll go with spring. As much as I end up talking about how much I love it getting warmer or cooler, I’m all for the non extreme season. Spring isn’t freezing, but it’s not too hot either.

  • Do you have a favourite memory from the year so far? What is it?

Oh gosh, 2017 has been an incredible year so far. If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll know why. But the top three are Wedding, Fiji and buying a house. All amazing moments from this year.

  • Who do you currently have a girl-crush on?

I girl crush on many ladies. Fellow bloggers, celebrities, people on the street. If I like even an aspect of someone, then I crush on them for a while.

  1. Be yourself. As you keep writing, you’ll just naturally find your writing style. Things will develop from there.
  2. Plan in advance. If you want to stick to a regular schedule, I really recommend getting some kind of planner so you can schedule things in advance.

The rules for this award are to explain why you started this blog, which I will leave out as I’ve said that story before. The other part of this award is to give two tips for other bloggers.

  • Preview your post through before you publish. Make sure the photos show up (i’ve been caught out before), reread what you’ve written. Proofreading is always good.
  • Include pictures. I just like pictures, I’m a very visual person, and it helps to break up the paragraphs.

  • Do you feel like blogging is difficult, and if so, how?

I do feel like it’s difficult. It takes up a lot of time, in terms of planning, writing, and taking pictures, as well as trying to keep up with those you follow. To me though, it’s time well spent 🙂

  • What is your secret hobby that most people don’t know you like doing?

So many things. Lately it’s been playing my ukulele and singing. I’m not great at it, but I just love doing it.

  • What is something going on in the world today that gets you upset?

Shootings. Violence. To be honest, I try not to focus on the bad in the world, cause there is a lot. I’m someone who is aware of the bad in the world, but searches for the good.

  • What was your most scariest moment?

Nothing huge comes to mind really. I get lots of little frights. I think one of the biggest was when I was 20 and at home alone. This guy just walked into our house as I was in the kitchen. I didn’t even hear him enter. I wasn’t quite sure how to react when he saw me and said “Oh, hi! Where’s _____?” I forget the name he asked. I said I had no idea. He looked confused and said “Isn’t this _______’s house?” I said no. He laughed and apologised, then left. That was it. At the time I was just frozen and trying to process there was a stranger in the house. Looking back, it was pretty scary and reminded me to lock the door. But also, who doesn’t knock before entering their ‘friends’ house??

  • Do you believe in conspiracy theories?

Not really

  • What is your biggest pet-peeve?

People who leave grocery carts anywhere but the cart bay where they SHOULD go.

  • Have you ever met a celebrity before?

No.

  • What place would you travel to if you won a free trip?

If it was free. America, Europe, or Iceland. The really far away places that will cost me ages to get to just from flights along.

  • What do you think is the secret to success?

Luck, opportunity, skill and hard work. It’s a combination of things.

  • What are some of the key things you’ve learned over the past few years?

Don’t be afraid of failure and rejection. They are bound to happen, and it’s good to learn how to respond and react to them.

Pamela’s Questions:

  • What is your ideal work situation? (Working from home, working in an office, etc.)

Ideal? Well it would be working from my laptop, but anywhere in the world. For example, a full time blogger who gets to travel and what not 😀

  • What is your favorite social media?

If we’re not counting WordPress, then Instagram.

  • If you could win a free trip anywhere, where would you go?

Again, Europe, America or Iceland.

  • Continuing the free trip, who would you take with you?

  • Your favorite moments of 2017 so far?

Wedding, Honeymoon, and House. In that order.

While walking around the carpark of the grocery store, my shoes lost grip and I nearly lost my balance while a car was going by. I mean, I guess it wouldn’t be funny if I hadn’t caught myself and stumbled away from the car…but I find it funny looking back.

  • What is your favorite scents?

Mint.

  • What is one film you’d recommend to someone?

Okay, well that depends what kind of movie. There are so many genres. Also, when I get asked this, I always immediately go blank. Ummm.. My Neighbour Totoro.

  • Summer vacation or winter vacation?

I’ve had enough cold weather, so summer vacation.

  • Any particular food you’re craving right now?

Fries.

  1. I am in love with my new camera
  2. I want to read more, but at the same time, I have a hundred other hobbies I want to spend time on.

  • What toppings are on your perfect pizza?

I am the biggest fan of pineapple, but right now I’m craving the ones we have at Meditteranean Food Warehouse. I can’t remember what’s on it, but I want it.

  • Beer or wine?

Neither. But if I have to, wine.

  • Have you ever said ‘i love you’ first?

Technically yes. Rory effectively said it first, via text. Then I was the one who said it out loud first. Took weeks though, which I find hilarious now. But every time one of us tried to say it out loud at first, we couldn’t. It felt like it had this weight to it. I finally blurted it one afternoon, and he was super happy and said it back. Now we just say it constantly.

  • Fruits or vegetables?

I like more kinds of fruits, than vegetables. So I’ll go with fruits.

  • Pick one of your fave blog posts. What’s so cool about it?

It changes often. But I’ll go with Small Things That Freak Me Out. I wrote that randomly after suddenly realizing there was a spider in my hair. It’s a whole list about minor things that give me a mini heart-attack. What’s so cool about it, is that so many people related to it, then shared their own small things in the comments. I love that post.

  • What is your dream job?

Something that allows me to do more travel and not break me financially. If it’s connected to blogging that would be even cooler.

  • What song would you recommend your readers to listen to?

I current have Fetish by Selena Gomez on repeat and I don’t really know why. It’s like Bad Liar all over again, her songs just get stuck in my head. I like this version, cause I hate random rap bits in pop songs:

  • What is your favourite season?

I normally say one of the in between ones like Spring or Autumn. But I’m going to go summer, cause I’m so sick of the cold.

  • If you could meet anyone famous, who would it be and why?

To be perfectly honest, as much as it would be cool to meet someone like Emma Watson in person, I wouldn’t want to. What would I say? Beyond “I love you” and probably crying. I can be an emotional person and I’d rather just know them from a distance.

  • Dream pet, and what would you name it?

Phoenix. It’s name would be Fawkes. For Harry Potter related reasons.

  • What goals do you have for your blog?

I used to have number related goals, but I really have let that slide. They’re a nice added bonus. But really, I just hope to still be doing it in a few years time. It’s just so much fun! I don’t know if I’ll still be doing it daily, but I want to still be active on it.

  • Proudest accomplishment you’ve achieved this year?

There’s been a fair few. 2017 has been pretty awesome. Getting my full teacher registration as that was two years in the making. Getting married. Buying a house. Going scuba diving for the first time. Getting my first tattoo (and then my second a few months after).  Biggest is probably the house thing though.

  • Do you have or want any tattoos?

Yes. I have two, which I often don’t stop talking about. I also want more, which I also can’t stop talking Rory’s ear off about, but I should be focusing on saving more.

  • What book/s are you reading at the moment? Any recommendations?

Right now I’m slowly reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I haven’t got into it enough to get a feel for it. I recommend reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck though. I read that back in July, and it was just hilarious. It’s technically a ‘self-help’ book, but it’s just fun. Also it’s written by a blogger, so there’s that.

  • What blogs have you been enjoying reading lately? Any recommendations?

I’ve been enjoying many blogs lately. I can’t think of specifics right now though. I do read and follow a lot of blogs, I keep meaning to make note of the posts that stand out to me but I read either late at night, or early morning, and I never remember to do that. But, I do recommend everyone on my Have You Met series.

  • What is one of your main hobbies, excluding blogging?

Baking. Even though I haven’t done it in a while.

  • What made you want to start blogging?

Seeing other blogs was a small part. Wanting my own space to document past travel adventures was the main one. I was trying to talk my self out of buying a scrapbook, so I remembered I created this blog back in June or July of last year. So this past March, I did just that. Then I started writing about everything else.

  • Where do you get your creative ideas?

Sometimes my brain just thinks of things. Sometimes I get inspired by Pinterest, other bloggers, while watching videos, or staring into space.

  • What are three things that you do that help you stay organized?

Plan, schedule, timekeep.

  • What do you want to accomplish?

Like a specific thing? One day I’d love to successcully bake those fancy macarons.

  • What do you do for a living?

I’m a daycare teacher.

  • What do you like to do for fun?

Watch tv or youtube, play games, read, do puzzles, baking.

  • When you aren’t working what are you doing?

What I said above.

  • Where are some places that you have been to that you would recommend?

Everywhere I’ve been. New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Fiji.

  • What are three tips on life that you would give to someone?

Don’t say no to everything, say yes to some things at least. Don’t stress the little things too much. School isn’t forever, it’s technically a small part of your life, just the first 18, it’ll end soon enough.

  • If you could own a vacation home where would it be and why?

Somewhere in Auckland, like on Waiheke Island. It’s super pretty, and I would love to have a vacation home up there to go in summer. I would say somewhere overseas, but Auckland would be easier to get to. Ooh, and one in Queenstown. So I can have a cool vacation spot for winter too.

  • If you could speak another language which one would it be and why?

Tagalog! I want to relearn it. I’m half Filipino, so I feel it’s part of my heritage.

  • Do you remember any of your dreams, can you describe one?

A lot of them are normal. Like me at work, or just going about my daily life. So I wake up confused.

  • Do you have any family tradition that you want to carry on?

It’s one that we haven’t done since we’ve grown up, but on our birthdays, our parents used to put our gifts right outside the door. So you’d wake up, open the door, and there’s your presents waiting for you!! I love that, and I would love to do that for my hypothetical future kids.

  • Who do you laugh the hardest with and why?

My siblings. Cause we have the longest history and the dumbest humour.

  • What has been the best piece of advice you have received?

I read it online and loved it. “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” by Maya Angelou.

  • Would you rather never read another book, or never watch another film/T.V show?

Probably never read another book, cause I went the longest time without reading a book. I love it, but I watch movies and tv show more.

  • You’ve been arrested! What have you most likely done?

Downloading movies and music.

  • Do you have a personal motto you live by? What is it?

Japan or Iceland.

  • What is your favourite holiday and memory from then?

I have lots of favourite holidays, I can never pick just one. Peru was an amazing long trip where I got to see incredible things. Fiji was amazing cause it was my honeymoon and we were on a beach for a week. Sydney was amazing cause we got to see incredible places again, and it was our first official overseas trip as a couple.

  • What is one thing you want to do/accomplish in your life?

I have a whole Bucket List.

  • What is your staple clothing item you couldn’t live without!?

Cardigans.

I’ve seen this tag going around for a while, and I’ve really enjoyed reading them! The outstanding Ella nominated me, and I can’t wait to answer her questions! Hopefully you guys learn more about me!

  • Are there any facts or statistics that you know that totally amaze or shock you?

I don’t know if this has been confirmed, but I do remember seeing somewhere that there are 4 births each second of every day, and nearly 2 people die each second every day. It’s just crazy statistics.

  • What is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?

Gotta go with Machu Picchu 😀

  • Who in your family are you most like and why?

I don’t know. I feel like I’m a little of both my parents. I’m like my dad in terms of my love for movies, games and stories. I’m like my mum in terms of my love for food, sleeping and taking photos of everything.

  • Do you believe in life after death?

I honestly don’t know. I do believe in God, but the idea of an afterlife I’ve lately been on the fence about.

  • What quality do you most value in a friend?

Reliability.

  • Do you think that a person can change their personality?

Yes. People change, they learn from previous experiences and this shapes them.

  • What do you think existed before our universe?

Empty space.

  • Do you have any big life goals that you’re currently aiming for?

Well we recently crossed one off, we have a house!! The next big thing is another big overseas trip (hopefully to Japan), and then possibly kids in the next few years.

  • Is there anything that you take for granted?

Living in a first world country, there’s a lot. Clean drinkable water, easy access to food, a roof over my head…for a start.

  • Do you live up to any stereotypes?

I honestly have no idea.

  • When was the last time you changed your mindset or belief on something?

I have been sitting here for 20 minutes wracking my brain, and I can’t seem to land on anything. I can’t figure out if that’s bad or good, or if my memory is just bad

Beautiful Is Tag

Before we get into this, I need to share the opening from the original post of this tag, created by Kiya over at Flawed Silence.

We often feel ugly.

Because we’re too diverse, too unique, too incredible to be conformed to societies constructions of beautiful.

And it shouldn’t be that way.

Everyone has beauty within them.

It just takes people with an open heart to see it within you. People who don’t allow superficial ideas to cloud judgement.

I see art as a metaphor for beauty. To me art is about perception. People either fall in love with it or not. They appreciate it or not. Try to understand it or see a blank. However, we should all try and be part of a society where our perception isn’t skewed by appearance. But by morals, and character.

That’s why you are beautiful.

I see beauty within you for who you are as an individual.

Beauty shouldn’t be restrained and tied down to physical appearance. Ever.

Questions

What is your definition of beautiful?

I never know how to answer this question. Part of me draws a blank, another part either wants to make a joke or say something weird. I’m gonna go with beauty is as a feeling. That feeling is ‘wow’. It can be a person, makeup, an outfit, a view, a thing, an animal. You get what I mean?

What do you find beauty in (abstract or concrete ideas)?

Everything? Little things. Big things. People. Clothes. Environment. Nature. The sky. Comes with being a reckless optimist. I find most things beautiful.

When you think of beautiful, what are the first four things or words that come to mind? 

I mentioned them all before 😀

Tell us seven reasons why you are beautiful

This is surprisingly hard to answer. I’m pretty happy and confident in myself. There are aspects that I would like to improve, or am insecure about. But I’ve been doing well in being confident in myself, how I look, how I present myself, and my life in general is pretty good. That’s all I can think of.

Tell us about a time someone made you feel beautiful. How did it make you feel?

Other than my wedding? I don’t know, to be honest, I just get a thrill when someone (friend or random) gives you a random little compliment. Like if it’s complimenting what you said, did or even what you’re wearing. It makes my day and gives me a boost. I try to do this more now, even though as someone shy it goes against my instinct. But sometimes I’ll randomly say “I like your shoes” or “I like your eyeliner”, and I get a happy “Thanks!” in response. Also if it’s clothes or accessories related, then I normally also find out where they get it from. That whole random support system of compliments is just beautiful in itself.

If you had to draw beautiful, how would it look?

Again, these questions kind of throw me. Beautiful is a concept, so trying to make it more concrete baffles me most of the time. Drawing beautiful to me can mean like really good artists, or I guess you could just look at Pinterest and find some nice typography for  the word Beautiful. Pinterest is awesome for that stuff.

When was the last time you highlighted someone’s beauty to them?

I mentioned this before actually. But the other day at work, I mentioned that I liked their hair. They recently dyed it back to brown as they’d had it blonde for a while but wanted to go back to their roots.
