Why did you start a blog in the first place?

To store all my memories of my travels. Then when I run out of travels to talk about, I started talking about everything else.

I never know what to answer with this, as I like a lot of books, but I have a hard time narrowing it down to one. So I’ll go with my standard answer.

So, three facts about the me.

  1. I am around 153 cm tall last I checked.
  2. I get bitten by bugs a lot lately
  3. I am currently wearing my pineapple socks

I was nominated by Pastel Pink Plans! She blogs about a mixture of lifestyle and beauty, as well as her life as a student.

Here are her five questions to me.

  • What is your fave holiday of the year? Why? Do you have any traditions for that time? What are they?

Christmas for sure! For one, it means it’s summer!! For another, all of our family get together for food, presents and hanging out. It’s just nice.

  • What is the weirdest thing you’ve eaten? Why did you eat it/what got you to be eating that weird thing?

I haven’t tried anything too crazy. I once tried Durian candy which a colleague who had been to Indonesia gave me. That just tasted weird.

  • What is something you are afraid of that is probably ‘weird’ to others?

Velvet. Okay, I’m not afraid of it, but the feel of it makes my skin crawl. Especially under my nails. Uggghhh.

  • What age would you want to be forever if you could? Why?

I’m kinda happy to age really. It means I gain more life experience you nkow.

  • What size bed do you sleep on?

What Do I Think About Art tag

The wonderful Kana has recently tagged me in something new and exciting! Well new and exciting to me, as it’s such a different tag than the other ones I do.

The creator of this tag is My Mind Speaks Aloud!

So here is the “What Do I Think About Art” tag.

Rules:

  • Copy the piece of art given to you by your nominator into the post, as well as these rules
  • Analyse the piece of art given to you and what it means to you (you can be as abstract as you like)

So here is the piece that Kana has given me to analyse. I adjusted my glasses before I wrote this, as I am entering serious mode, also I am very near sighted, and they were slipping down my nose.

Okay, so here are my thoughts:

Cool. I like that the yellow lines go up onto the wall. I like flowers. How did he match up those lines so perfectly? Also, how does he make the lines so straight? I can never draw straight lines. I’m guessing he also painted the little dude on the side with the yellow paintbrush. I’m more impressed with the painted person, as that looks really impressive. I can’t draw anything. Do people know when Banksy does these little pieces?

Okay, so the second half of the question is what it means to me. Uhhh, I don’t really know. But let’s put on my thinking hat. I’m guessing it’s about making something different out of the ordinary. These are just regular double yellow lines which he turned into a giant flower. Also, this just makes me happy. I’d love to see this suddenly turning the corner, it really does make that specific corner so much more unique. He also included his little self in the corner sitting down and looking around, I like to imagine he’s looking at other yellow lines and planning on making more flowers everywhere. I’m not gonna get too abstract, cause now I’m getting flashbacks to Art and English classes where you’re given something to analyse, and I try my best too, but my brain just goes on tangents, and it’s never helpful. See, it just did it now.

Great analysis yes? Went off topic many times!

Anyway, now I get to do some nominations, and choose a piece for  you guys to analyse!

As a close watcher of trends in the design world, I will say that there's a lot out there that is very beautiful, but few things that feel really new. There are always exceptions, though, like these iridescent homewares (and accessories). They feel different and futuristic and maybe even a little bit magical, the perfect thing for taking your home, and your style, to the next level.:

The idea of a couch like area in the kitchen has appealed to me for so many years. If that was the case, then we would buy a house we liked, then redecorate it to dream status!! 😀

I like my hands. They’re super useful, and my nails are for the most part very neat and tidy. Also, they’re now always accessoried with my wedding and engagement ring nowadays, so I look and admire them on my fingers a lot.

Honestly, my meaning of life is to be happy. That may be cliche, but that’s honestly all I want in life. To be happy. I don’t really have any urges to go deeper than that, to say I want to change the world, or live some crazy life. As long as I’m happy, I’m okay.

My Question: What’s your favorite inspiring quote? Why does it inspire you?

‘I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.’ Maya Angelou’s quote always reminds me of being aware of what I’m doing, or what I’m saying. If we think back on people we knew, even people we met for a short time, the impact they leave, how they made us feel is often the first thing we remember. So, I try to be positive, supportive and encouraging, rather than rude, dismissive or judgy (is that a word?).

Let’s get rid of cancer. Just straight up remove it from existence. That would be awesome.

I have a few, but mostly I prefer to have favourite movie genres. Superhero, disney, musicals, etc.

Right now, it’s everything Ed Sheeran, Lorde or Alessia Cara.

I honestly have no idea what fashion trends are happening right now…I like floral patterns, is that a thing?

Foundation, cause my face gets red a lot and I want to tone that down.

Scotland.  Castles. Harry Potter. Loch Ness.

  • Dog or cat as a pet and why?

Cat. They’re a bit more chill and can look after themselves more.

  • Dress or pants and why?

Pants. Cause Wellington is windy and cold, even in summer its risky to wear a dress.

  • Flats or heels and why?

Flats. I’m used to them because of work. Or can I compromise and say wedges, as they’re comfy and don’t kill my feet if I’m in them all day at work.

I like the whole half up, half down look. I always thought it suited me. But for work, I go ponytail, cause otherwise my hair is just in the way.

Yes actually. I always thought knitting looked fun!

  • When you plan your dream vacations, what do you look for?

Sights, I want to see what things I can see on vacation that I wouldn’t be able to see otherwise.

Ooh, I have quite a few. But I keep coming back to the Sims!

A lot are favourites to write! But I really like talking about what’s going on in my life, especially the people in my life.

Peru was for sure the most interesting. To be in another country, another culture, another language, on the other side of the world from home was both an amazing and kinda scary experience.

  • What are you smelling right now?

Nothing, but my nose is kinda blocked so that may be why.

  • Do you normally eat breakfast and, if so, what do you typically eat?

Yes. I normally have toast and coffee, or porridge and coffee, or cereal and coffee. Coffeeee.

  • What is your favorite season and why?

Summer. But when it’s not at it’s peak. Leading into summer, and out of summer we have really nice weather, it’s not too hot, and I can actually wear shorts and dresses.

  • Do you talk about your blog often to people you know?

Besides Rory? Umm, kinda. I talk about it with my sister every now and then, same with my best friend. It was brought up recently when I visited my parents. Dad was asking me what the blogging challenge was about.

  • What is one thing you can’t leave home without (besides the obvious phone/wallet/keys)?

My iPod. I need to have music with me when I go anywhere. I tend to feel lost walking around without it.

Currently, it’s Things I Learnt From My Dad.

Not technically a mistake, but I recall a time where I was rude and mean to my little brother cause he was ‘bugging’ me, but really he just wanted to hang out. I would go back in time and tell my younger self to stop being a moody teenager and appreciate our awesome little bro.

I’m gonna go with sloth.

I have a soft spot for gyp, aka baby’s breath (which is a weird name)

Ever? I don’t know. I’ve tripped over a lot. Burst into tears in class. Waved to people who weren’t actually waving at me. One of those.
