Maternity Dress OOTD

A few weeks ago, I shared a maternity clothes haul. One of the items I bought was this stripy maxi dress. The dress is so comfy! It’s so soft and feels so nice to wear all day. It’s also perfect as the weather gets warmer.

Sidenote: I also bought these prescription sunglasses recently. Driving was getting tricky without sunglasses as I kept getting blinded. So I decided to splurge on these sunglasses, and I love them so much!

I don’t have too much else to say about this dress. It’s comfy, pretty and definitely my current favourite maternity outfit. It’ll be fun to see how I look in the dress over the months as my bump grows. I have a few other pieces that I’ll probably share down the line as well.

Some New Products I Like

I have some thoughts I want to share about some skincare and hair products I’ve been liking lately. I tried really hard to come up with a snazzy title, but it just wasn’t coming. So anyway, here’s some products I’ve been liking lately.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater

facial spray

My sister had recommended this to me. It’s fairly cheap, so I figured I’d give it a go. It’s easy to mist on your face, and it feels nice and refreshing. I like to use it in the morning and evening. I mist it on, and it helps to ease redness as well as moisturize a little. For the price it costs, this is really worth it. There’s a few other variations of this spray with different ingredients, so I’m keen to try more.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer

hair primer

I bought this after hearing lots of great reviews. Since my previous heat spray, I haven’t found one I really like. This one has been really good! It’s a lightweight spray and smells really nice (bonus!). It doesn’t make my hair feel sticky or crunchy. My hair is less frizzy after blowdrying now, and feels softer. I really recommend giving this one a go if you’re looking for a good heat protection spray.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Infusion Spray

sea salt spray

This is one that can be a little hit or miss. I had heard about sea salt sprays before, and since I like Bumbl & Bumble, I thought I’d try their travel size one. It smells nice and definitely reminds me of the beach. I spray it on damp hair and scrunch it up and leave it to dry. My hair will feel a little sticky/crunchy on bits, but otherwise it leaves it looking ‘naturally messy’. Other times, it’s just a mess. But it has worked on more occasions for me, so I still think it’s worth a go!

What skincare or haircare products have you been liking lately?

July Favourites

A lot of my favourites in this month are all about things that kept me warm.

july faves

Hourglass Foundation – I’ve talked about this a lot recently, and I even dedicated a whole post to why I have been loving this! The formula is really concentrated, so it doubles as both a foundation and a concealer. It’s made getting ready faster in the morning. I dot it where I need it, then use my beauty blender to blend it out.

Bath Bombs – Another favourite that had it’s own dedicated post. Bath bombs are such a nice way to relax, and definitely a perk of the colder season. I’ve tried a lot recently, and I always like going into the store to see what other ones have come out.

Overalls – I have been wearing these a lot lately. They’re super comfy, and useful for layering. I prefer them to my regular jeans, especially since they have around a million pockets which is always helpful.

Grey Beanie – The perfect winter accessory, a fluffy beanie with a pompom.

Wooly Boots – I don’t know if I’ve mentioned these boots before. They used to belong to my sister, but she let me take them a few years back. The inside is lined with sheep skin, so it’s super warm and comfy! I have been exclusively wearing them on all the colder days.

As a bonus favourite, I’d like to bring up Shadow, our cat!

I decided to take the feature photo of this months favourites on the floor of our bedroom. Shadow likes to hide under the bed, and as I tried to take photos, she wanted to see what I was doing.

Shadow has definitely been a favourite this month. We’ve had for a few weeks now, and it almost feels like we’re a little family 😀

What’s been one of your favourites of July?

If I Could Only Keep One – Makeup Tag

So I haven’t been doing tags lately, especially since now I’ve gone down to three posts a week, I’m keen to write about other things. That being said, Cleia recently tagged me for this makeup tag! It reminds me of the Ride or Die tag from a while back, and it’s fun to think about which makeup product I would limit myself to “if I could only keep one”.

The gist is, you look in your collection, and if you have more than one type of product, you need to decide which one you’d keep. I won’t be including eyebrow products, concealer, blush, primers or setting sprays in this list, cause I only have one of each of those at the moment.

Okay, here we go.

Eyeshadow Palette

Tarte Treasure Box

Okay, so this is cheating a little, since this comes with more than just eyeshadow. But I really do love this palette. I have two Colourpop ones which I’m pretty keen on, but lately, I’ve been coming back to the Tarte one. It has a bigger range, more colours, and it’s pretty high quality, so I can’t see myself separating from it.

Mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I’ve used a fair few mascaras up, but I keep coming back to this one. It can cause pretty intense lashes from just one application, so it’s well worth it.

Eyeliner

Tarte Double Liner

I keep getting more eyeliners for whatever reason. I do love playing with them, even if I can’t go beyond a basic one (winged liners remain a fantasy). This one from Tarte comes with both a liquid and pencil liner. Both work great, so this seems to be the obvious pick for me!

Lipstick

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

Okay, so my lipstick collection has grown quite a bit. I mostly have liquid lipsticks. That being said, I like my neutral one from NYX the best still. It goes with any look! While I love a lot of my other ones, this is a staple for me, so it has to stay.

Foundation

Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick

I still really like Bare Minerals, but I’ve found myself reaching for my Hourglass foundation stick more recently. I can apply it quite quickly in the morning, it has amazing coverage, and I also use less foundation. I went through my previous foundation in around 2 months. But I’ve been using this one for over 2 weeks, and I’ve barely made a dent in it!

Bronzer

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer

I don’t really have that much bronzers, but this one has become my go-to. It smells like coconuts, and the texture is so smooth and buttery! I’ve been using it as a transition eyeshadow quite a lot too.

Highlighter

Becca Shimmering Skin Pressed Perfector Opal

I also don’t have too many highlighters, the ones I do have were when I really got into trying lots of different ones. That being said, this one really is the most incredible. The amount of sheen you get from just one teeny stroke is so beautiful! I just like looking at it.

That’s all for this post! If you guys had to pick just one of these types of products, which would you go with? Feel free to do this tag yourself!

Bath Bombs Galore #2

I did a post on this back in November, but since then I’ve tried more bath bombs, so I thought it was time for a part 2!

Avobath

This has still been one of my most favourite bath bombs. Ingredients include lemongrass, bergamot oils, avocado and olive oil. All of this left my skin feeling so nice and soft. The water turned into this really pretty, shimmery blue-green kind of colour too, and it smelt so nice! All in all, while it wasn’t flashy, it definitely left my skin feeling hydrated and nourished, and that’s all I need.

Sunnyside

This one is very golden and shimmery, and also kind of a pain to clean up afterwards. Sunnyside is a bubble bath bomb, so along with making the water golden and sparkly, it also filled up with lots of bubbles! The scent was very citrus-y, which is no surprise as the ingredients are a blend of orange, lemon and tangerine oils. All in all, it was quite refreshing, but I don’t think I’d try it again.

Sex Bomb

This was highly recommended to me in the store, and I was keen to try it out. It smelt floral, but not overpowering. When I hopped in, I immediately felt more relaxed. The ingredients include jasmine (helps with stress and anxiety) ylang ylang (helps sooth worries) and clary sage (helps to clear the mind). The water was a pretty pink/purple colour, and made my skin nice and soft. Also, as a little surprise, that mini rose at the top of the bomb stays for a while. It was just floating around like a little boat, before finally dissolving around 15 minutes later. It’s definitely one to try for yourself!

Experimenter

experimenter 01

This is one of the more pricier ones. Like Intergalactic, it’s cause you’re going to get a show as you drop the bomb in. There was lots of colours swirling, as well as different scents. I got a bit of vanilla, and something else I couldn’t quite place. As the water settled, the colours all mixed, so the water was a bit murky. The appeal is definitely in the beginning stages of this bath bomb, but I still enjoyed it.

Creamy Candy

creamy candy

This was the first bubble bar I’ve tried, and I really liked it! The water turned into a nice light pink, and it felt so moisturizing on my skin. I came out with very smooth and velvety skin which I really enjoyed. The scent was also sweet, kind of like candy which is never a bad thing. The ingredients include almond oil and cocoa butter while helped with the overall hydration and softening experience! Definitely give it a go some time.

Marmalade

marmalade 01

This is the first jelly bomb I’ve tried, and I didn’t really understand what made it different from a bath bomb at first. From what I can tell, rather than fully dissolving, there are little bits of jelly covering the water which you can squish in your hands during the bath. It was very satisfying feeling it dissolve in my hands. The ingredients include orange and grapefruit oils, so it had a nice citrus scent and colour. All in all, it was very refreshing and a lot of fun!

Over and Over

over and over 01

This is another bath bomb that is fun to watch as you throw it in. It rolls over and over, releasing lots of pinks, oranges and golds everywhere! It was definitely refreshing, and the cocoa butter left my skin feeling nice and soft. My one issue with it though, is that it did stain my tub more than other bombs. I had to spend some time getting the colours off the side.

The Big Sleep

big sleep 01

This was one that Rory got me as a treat, after I’d had a bad day at work. I was drained and grumpy, so this was a really nice surprise! I immediately got scents of lavender and chamomile, which definitely helped me relax. When I popped it in, it turned the water into a nice light blue colour. While in the tub, the mix of lavender and neroli oil helped me feel so relaxed. Which was a good bonus, as I was in a crabby mood right before the bath. I was so relaxed in the bath that I caught myself almost falling asleep way too many times to count. After getting out, I headed straight to bed and had such a good sleep! I really recommend trying this if you’re in need of a relaxing night in!!

So I’ve tried a lot of bath bombs in the past 6-8 months, and I definitely plan on getting more! Which bath bombs have you tried recently?

Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick Review

I don’t normally do beauty review posts, but I thought it would be fun to try doing one. I recently splurged on buying the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick, and decided to share my thoughts.

hourglass

I’d had my eye on this for a while. I had heard about it from Marzia, and general positive reviews from around  the internet. As with any beauty product, just because it works for someone else, doesn’t mean it’ll work well for you. But I’ve had a good run with products recommended by Marzia, so I decided to at least try it out. In store, I got matched to my shade (Ivory), and the lovely worker even agreed to fully apply it so I could see what I thought. I really liked it! So since I had saved up already, I decided to get it!

hourglass 02

I’ve never used a foundation stick before, but this one was really great to use. It goes on really smooth and fluidly. The foundation’s formula is very concentrated, so you don’t need to use that much. Even though it’s quite concentrated, it feels very light on my face.

hourglass 03

I apply a few dots all over my face and use a beauty blender to spread out the coverage. I used my Real Techniques expert face brush for a bit, but I find that a blender is easier to work with. I also apply more where I want to conceal, such as under my eyes. The foundation looks and feels quite natural, while still offering a lot of coverage. It has a kind of dewy finish, and lasts really well throughout the day.

hourglass 04

All in all, I’m really happy I splurged and got this! It’s definitely high-end, but to me it was worth it. I hear a lot of praise for this foundation, but some people do have issues. It has been suggested to me to apply an oil before this foundation, to help smooth it out more, but I haven’t had any issues. If you’re able to splurge on this, I say go for it. If not, there’s heaps of amazing dupes out there too!

Have you guys every tried this foundation?

Winter Haul

Yesterday, I shared some items I bought from Romwe. It dawned on me that I’ve bought quite a few things recently, so I wanted to combine them all to make a seasonal haul post.

Here we go!

Clothes

I bought two sweaters from a thrift shop recently. I love layering, and every year I always buy more jumpers/sweaters. They’re so comfy and you can never have enough. This ‘P’ one is my favourite. It reminds me of my letterman jacket, and I really like the colours. I also like this black crop knit sweater. It’s super warm! I also got these unicorn slippers which I mentioned in an earlier post.

Accessories

jewellery

I don’t often wear jewellery, or buy it for that matter. But one afternoon, I impulsively bought these. Two pairs of earrings and five rings. I picked gold items, and I do love looking at them. It’s very rare for me to remember to wear any though.

Skincare and Makeup

beauty products

I haven’t been buying makeup much lately. Partly because I’m wanting to save, and also cause nothing has been jumping out at me. I have used up two travel sizes of the UD All-Nighter Setting Spray, so I bought the full size one as I really like it. I also wanted to try a new primer, and decided to give the UD Quick Fix one a go. Recently, I also picked up this little face mask from Lush. It smells nice and calming. I’ve yet to use it, and I hear that the product can sometimes be hard to work with, but I’m keen to try it.

Cross Stitch

cross stitch kit

I’ve mentioned my love of cross stitches a few times, so I ended up buying one. This was before I found my big bag filled with cross stitch kits waiting to be done. Still, this bunny picture was too cute, and I’m definitely going to complete it!

Home

scented candles

We have been into scented candles more and more. It’s nice to have them fill up the house. I’ve been really loving the coconut one lately.

bedroom decor

We also bought this piece of canvas art to go above our bed. We’ve been wanting to fill up the empty space for a while but we couldn’t find one we liked enough. Rory found this oil painting (Sunrise Sakura it’s called) on Amazon and we really liked it. It reminds us of our Japan trip and it’s also just pretty.

art decor

That’s all for this wintry haul! What have you bought recently?

Morning Skincare Routine (Collab with Emily Knows Makeup)

Emily approached me on Instagram about doing a collab. I love doing posts with fellow bloggers, and we decided to talk about skincare routine. I haven’t done a post like this before, and while I’ve loosely talked about it before, I thought it would be fun to do a full post. I’ll be talking about my morning routine, and Emily will be talking about her evening routine over on her blog.

Fun fact, we both assumed the other was based in the US, as we’re used to most bloggers being based there (or in Europe lol). However, Emily is in Australia, and I’m in New Zealand, so our skincare routines are based around the wintry season we’re currently in. Anyway, let’s get into it!

morning routine

My skincare routine has always been simple. I used to do nothing for the longest time, but I’m slowly building up a routine. Very basic, but it means I can do it quite quickly which is great as I’m always rushing in the mornings.

Cleanser

cleanser

I’ve only tried a handful of cleansers, but this one has by far been my favourite. Since using this cleanser, I’ve noticed less breakouts and my skin is pretty well-behaved. That’s a win in my book. It doesn’t foam when I use it (I like playing with foam), but other than that I have no actual complaints. My face doesn’t feel dry after using the cleanser, it just feels fresh and smooth. Once you find a cleanser that works for you, you want to stick with it. At least that’s my thought process.

Serum

serum

This is another one that I’ve tried a bunch of. Most of them are from previous subscription boxes. The one that I’m currently using and have used the longest is this one. Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum. A mouthful of a title. Anyway, after having cleaning my face, I like rubbing this into my skin. It just feels (and smells) really nice. Also, I was never really sure what the point of a serum was. So I looked up the marketing information of this serum. Apparently it’s a skincare product that goes deeper into your skin than a moisturizer. So it aims to brighten skin, minimize fine lines and wrinkles and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone. I will say that my skin does look brighter after a few months of using this. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but I do love this serum!

Moisturizer

moisturizer

Finally, I end on a moisturizer. I have always liked this Aveeno moisturizer. I use it on my face daily and I feel refreshed afterwards. This is especially needed in winter as I love having scalding hot showers and baths.

That’s my whole routine! Three steps and I’m done. Then I start on my makeup and whatever else I need to do in the morning.

Be sure to check out Emily’s blog and see what her skincare routine is in the evening!

What’s your current skincare routine like?

OGX Nourishing & Coconut Milk Shampoo

I really liked this shampoo! Possibly because it makes my hair smell like coconut, and I like coconut related products. As for how it helped my hair, it definitely helped make it feel fresh and shiny. But my hair can run quite oily, so I didn’t use it that much. But I don’t think you’re meant to use that much shampoo when you wash your hair anyway.

Do I recommend? Yes, especially if you like coconut!

Would I repurchase? Maybe one day, but I like trying different shampoos.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I normally use the wipes version, but as I run out of the wipes in under a month, I decided to try the water version. This lasted so much longer! It still does a great job of removing makeup and not hurting my eyes.

Do I recommend? Yes!

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Too Faced Hangover Primer

I only bought the travel size, so I’m not surprised this didn’t last too long. As this is another coconut related product, I already loved it. It felt like a really nice moisturizer to me. To be honest, I don’t know how great it was for prepping my skin for makeup though. I thought it did first, but after continued use, I’m not really sure. As a moisturizer though, it’s great for helping my face feel fresh! Especially after all our plane trips lately.

Do I recommend? Yes, it’s definitely something you should try!

Would I repurchase? Probably, but I want to try some other primers too.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo

I use this for washing my makeup brushes. It’s effective, gentle, and also pretty cheap in comparison to other makeup tool washing/cleaning products.

Do I recommend? Yes!

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Derma E Overnight Peel

I received a small sample size of this product a while back from a subscription box. I used it once a week for many months, or if I was having a breakout. You put it on before you sleep, and wash it off in the morning. If I had a massive pimple, this helped calm it down the day after, and it would go away soon after that.

Do I recommend? Yes, you should try it!

Would I repurchase? I bought a full-size version!

Bb Thickening Hair Spray

I wanted to try a volumizing hair spray, as my hair often struggles with that. This was recommended to me by a shop assistant. I don’t know if it added much volume to my hair, but it did add a little. My main struggles with it though is it had a bit of a strong ‘alcohol’ish scent to it.

Do I recommend? Not really.

Would I repurchase? Nope.

What products have you finished lately?

Angela.
