Winter Bucket List (Reviewed)

Back in June, I decided to create myself a little Winter Bucket List. It was very short, but since it’s been a while (woops) since I looked at it, I thought it would be fun to see how I did anyway.

Make some soup

So I didn’t technically make soup, but Rory did. I ate it, and it was good. We recently bought all these cookbooks, and tried the Pumpkin Soup recipe. It was really delicious, and a perfect wintry meal.

Try lots of bath bombs

I tried a fair few early on in Winter. I shared the ones I tried in my Bath Bombs Galore post. I haven’t tried much recently though. I like to have really hot baths, especially in winter, but I’ve had to stop. It’s not great for your skin, and also it’s not good for baby. So I’d either have to have a lukewarm bath or none at all. I can wait till next winter.

Finish at least 2 books

I still haven’t picked up a book since May. The guilt has gone away now (although it comes back when I log onto Goodreads), as I have other activities I like to do. Cross stitching, playing games, watching tv. I just can’t get interested in any book at the moment. I’ll still try though.

Complete a few jigsaw puzzles

I did complete a Wasgij after my big 3000 one. I was going to start another one, but I go caught up in my next activity.

Complete a cross stitch kit

I have done two! I did my little hot air balloon one, and also recently completed a garden one that I’ve just framed. I’ve started work on my bunny one.

Go to the movies

I don’t think we’ve gone to the movies since I made the original post. But there’s nothing we really want to watch.

I don’t think I did too badly. I kept it small as I knew I probably wouldn’t do too much, and I chose most activities based on what I already love. This was fun to make though, maybe I’ll make one for spring!

Winter Bucket List

These kinds of posts have been around for a while, and I always enjoy reading them. So I’m finally going to be giving it a go! (By the way, I was looking on Pinterest for some inspiration for this list, but they’re all Christmas related. As someone who has a summer Christmas, this was of no use to me.)

Make some soup

Soup is seriously one of the best things to eat in winter. Warm, hearty soup. Pumpkin is my absolute favourite. I have bought some from the store the other day, but I also like making it myself.

Try lots of bath bombs

I’ve already talked about my fondness for bath bombs and hot baths, so I had to put this in. I haven’t set a specific number because I know I’ll probably go over whichever one I set. I do want to try lots of different ones though.

Finish at least 2 books

I’ve been quite bad with reading lately. I intended to read on holiday, but I was more caught up in exploring, even on the planes and trains. Since it’s colder outside, there’s more incentive to curl up inside with a good book.

Complete a few jigsaw puzzles

Like with reading the books, I enjoy completing puzzles. I can get caught up binge watching tv shows and blogging, so it would be nice to do some activities where I’m not looking a screen.

Complete a cross stitch kit

I’m now just listing my favourite indoor activities, but I haven’t completed a cross stitch in years! Like with jigsaws and reading, I find it relaxing.

Go to the movies

We rarely go to the movies nowadays, but it’s definitely a fun indoor activity to do!

Right, that’s probably enough. I do want to actually try complete this by the end of winter. So in September, I’ll come back to this list and hopefully I will have done them all! Winter seems like a good time to start trying to finish all my crafts and indoor activities I like to spend time on!

What do you guys like to do in winter?

5 Places on My Travel Wishlist

As we all do, I have a travel wishlist of places I would love to see one day. It changes slightly from time to time, but there’s five that keep coming back to me.

Here are five of my top places on my Travel Wishlist!

Japan

I’ve been wanting to go here for the longest time, since I was a kid watching Cardcaptor Sakura. Yes that’s an anime. It’s also where I first discovered cherry blossoms, and then lost my mind when I realized they were real flowers that grew on real trees. Since then though, I’ve discovered more about Japan, and the more I hear, the more I want to go. There’s so much culture, sights, experiences there that I wouldn’t get to do anywhere else!

We’re hoping to go next year, and we plan to visit at least Tokyo and Kyoto!

Iceland

If we ever get here, it will be nothing short of a miracle. I searched flights to Iceland from New Zealand and it takes more than a day, and is crazy expensive. That being said, I still want to go. I’ve been hearing more and more about the natural beauty and landscapes of Iceland, and seeing it through a screen has never been enough. Not to mention, the Northern Lights. If I could see it in person, I think I would lose my mind. Iceland literally looks like it’s another world, and deserves to be on every travel wishlist.

Greece

Europe in general is on my list, but there’s a few countries which I want to see more than others. Greece being one of the top. You guys may know the place in Greece I’m thinking of. Santorini. Look up any pictures of that place and tell me it isn’t stunning! The colours of the houses against the cliff, the water, the views. It all looks incredible. Culture wise, I don’t know too much about Greece, but I would be willing to learn. Also, if someone is willing to pay for me to get there, I would gladly accept.

Scotland

So this may be more Harry Potter related more than anything. Also, from pictures I’ve seen of Scotland, it reminds me a lot of New Zealand. Lots of grass, farm animals, gloomy weather, I feel like I could live there. They do have a lot of history, and castles, and it’s always been on the back of my mind to visit. Rory also has lineage there, so maybe visiting Scotland will be in the works one day.

Germany

This time, it’s fairytales that draw me here. So much photos I see online of Europe villages and towns look like they came out of a story book. I want to see them. Also, the food in Germany looks to be on another level of decadence. Maybe I should just visit a whole bunch of European countries. They have train tours right where you stop in a few countries. That would be amazing!

I may have gone a little on a tangent there in the end, but there you have it! Five places on my travel wishlist that I would love to visit! I don’t know if I’d ever get them all ticked off, but a girl can dream right?

What’s a place on your travel wishlist?
