So I finished the A-Z Challenge last week. I started it all the way back in early April and posted on this twice a week till mid-July. I had so much fun trying to think of what shows to recommend for each letter of the alphabet. As a wrap up post, I’m going to list all the shows I talked about!
I’m going to keep this post relatively short, as while I have loved this challenge, I’m also slightly burnt out from it. I’ve been posting these twice a week for 13 weeks!! That’s over three months! I’m very happy to have made it to the end, and will not take on something like this again 😀
Anyway, iZombie is a show I fell into by accident. I don’t remember how I found out about it, but I watch CW a lot in general since all the superhero shows are on there, and this sounded intriguing.
Here’s the premise. Liv is a medical resident who decides to go to a party which ends up getting attacked by zombies. Are you hooked already? Anyway, Liv ends gets scratched and ends up a zombie. However, she is still determined to pass as a regular human, despite her super pale appearance, and general apathy (being dead tends to make you lose interest in things). She ends up working at a coroner’s office where she can secretly snack on fresh human brains (she puts them in things like smoothies or sandwiches). This also means she takes on traits of the brains she snacks on (as well as memories), which allows her to pretend to be a psychic and help out a detective solve crimes (specifically murders).
This show is silly, fun, and reminds me a little of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The perfect mix of horror, drama, and comedy. I really recommend checking it out!
Let’s end it on some random gifs!
Anyway, I’m keen to know if anyone else has watched this show? Or heard of it? 😀
I plan to post one more time next Tuesday to do a little wrap up and masterpost of this A-Z Challenge, cause I am super proud that I managed to get it done!
While this film never had me laughing hysterically, it had me consistently grinning from start to finish. Which to me, is a mark of a great comedy. I am a fan of the Cornetto trilogy. Bonus points to those who know what that is. This one is by far my favourite though! Hot Fuzz is an amazing parody and satire of over the top action movies.
The premise is simple enough. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) was too good a cop in London, that he gets sent to the sleepy village of Sandford. The change is hard for Nicholas to adapt to, and he gets frustrated with how laid back the rest of his new team is, along with his well-meaning, naive partner Danny (Nick Frost). However, as more ‘accidents’ start to rock the sleepy town, Angel begins to suspect that not everyone is as they seem in Sandford.
Seriously though, this movie is hilarious. It all escalates to an insane all out gun fight at the end, that is hysterical. I definitely recommend giving it a watch, even if you’re not into action, as this is the perfect parody of all those movies.
Have you guys seen Hot Fuzz?
What’s your favourite comedy movie?
Ooh, also I forgot to say, Hannah, over at Sassy Girl’s Journey has joined in on this challenge! Check out her post here!
Two weeks left! This show is another reality one, or to be more technical, it’s a comedy improv show.
W is for Whose Line is it Anyway.
I watched this show a lot growing up. It was always on at some point or other, and often we’d watch it together. After it was off tv, and I discovered YouTube, I found it again. I’ve binged a lot of clips of it on over time.
We’ve made it to U! Can you believe we’re up to the 21st letter now?
U is for Ugly Betty.
Ugly Betty is a show I remember watching back in the mid 2000s. It wasn’t spectacular, but it was entertaining. It’s also the only show I could think of for this letter, there is surprisingly not much shows that start with U.
P is for Parks and Recreation!! Did anyone call that I would do this for P? Because you should have!
Parks and Recreation is an amazing show. It’s shot in mockumentary style, where the characters are aware of the cameras, and often have little talking head moments. I personally am not a fan of the first season, the second was good, but it’s not till the third season where the show really hits its stride and doesn’t let up on the comedy. It’s one of my favourite comedies ever, and I still watch it constantly.
Let’s carry on with the A-Z Challenge. This has kind of become a pet project of mine, and I’m still having fun coming up with these shows 😀
I is for How I Met Your Mother. Okay, so this is kinda cheating, but this letter was surprisingly hard to do. It’s still in the title so I have decided that it works XD
You may have noted that this is yet another sitcom. I told you, I love sitcoms. They’re so fun to watch and breeze through. Sometimes all you want is a light-hearted funny show after a long day at work you know? Plus, it’s got some great actors in it! Neil Patrick Harris is amazing! I would love to see him live in some kind of show some day. I will say though, I am one of the fans who was incredibly disappointed in the ending. I also just lost interest in around Season 7. The show didn’t feel as fresh anymore, and it never made me laugh anymore. But, the first 5 seasons are filled with some of the best sitcom episodes and tropes. I still love to rewatch it.
Let’s continue the random challenge I made for myself by listing television shows that I can recommend from A-Z. We’ve covered A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and now we move onto H.
H is for Bojack Horseman.
I am a fan of quite a number of the original Netflix shows. Bojack is something I decided to watch purely because it looked weird. It was also animated, and I was a bit bored with live action. Also, I found out that Alison Brie (from Community) was in it, so I wanted to have a peek at the show. I binge watched the first two season, and have recently finished the third. This show is amazing, hilarious, and weird. It does satire, pokes fun at everything, but also has incredibly serious moments, and has a very flawed main character (and supporting cast really), which makes it even more interesting.
