Hello November

Hello November

How is it already November? This year has gone both super fast and super slow at times, but that’s life with a baby. Hey guys! How is everyone? It’s been the longest while since I’ve blogged, but it popped back in my head and I wanted to check in.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen the occasional updates of little miss Naomi. She is now 7 and a half months. She’s super smiley and bubbly, and is figuring out that she can move her body more and more. She can sit up unaided, but will still flop over at a moment’s notice. She leans over to grab stuff and gets mad when things are out of reach. She adores her baths and going swimming.

I’m back at work 4 days a week. I plan on going fully full time next year, but for now, I like having a 3 day weekend, as I get exhausted. I’m back to looking after many babies during the day, and then I head home and we look after just one baby. It still takes up a decent bit of energy. We all just crash by around 9 o clock. All that aside, I am loving being back at work. I’ve settled back in, the kids all know me well again, and Naomi gets so much love and attention from all the kids and teachers.

November has so far been bringing some really lovely sunny weather. We’ve gone on quite a few trips at work, and it’s been so nice getting to chill in the sun. My birthday is in just under a month, and we have a fun little weekend getaway planned. Then of course, Christmas is pretty close too. We have another getaway planned around new years too. All in all, I’m excited for the coming months!

It’s been fun opening up wordpress and typing up this update. I have no idea what the future of this blog is, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully walk away. It’s too much fun! Even if I vanish for months at a time lol.

How have the past few months been for everyone? I’m hoping to catch up on the last few posts people have posted, do let me know how you guys are going!

Summer to Autumn Transition OOTD (Collab with AyR Galaxy)

This is a collab with the amazing Rossy at AyR Galaxy! We have wanted to do a collab together for a while, and decided on a transitional OOTD. By that I mean, we’re sharing outfits to transition us into the new season! For me, I’m moving from Summer to Autumn. For Rossy, she’s moving from Winter to Spring. Be sure to check out her post as well! Here’s a little sneak peek of hers:

wintertospring_ootd_levis_bag

I’m loving the blush pink colours! Perfect for Spring! For my side of the world, we’re moving into the cooler seasons. Autumn has already begun rearing it’s head. The sun is setting earlier, and it’s a lot colder and rainier. However, it’s not freezing…yet.

For my transitional outfit, I’ve included one of my summer staples. The denim shorts! I mean, I do wear this constantly, even now. I just love them. This time though, I’ve added stockings and my new combat boots as my legs get cold. I also included a slightly warmer blue sweater and my favourite pompom beanie.

All this left meant that I was able to get around the day without feeling cold. It was also quite comfy. These combat boots are seriously my favourite things at the moment. I can walk around in them all day and not feel sore!

autumn ootd 04

As always blue is my favourite colour and I always wear some form of the colour. This outfit actually reminds me of one of my older OOTD’s last year when it was moving into spring!

Believe it or not, this top is different. It’s the same colour, but it has shorter sleeves and is a bit thicker. It’s my colder blue sweater! Also, look at the light difference in these photos! They were both taken around 6pm, just 7 months apart.

So there you go! An OOTD post for moving into the wintry seasons. Add more layers, boots and a hat!

Outfit Details:

Sweater – Farmers

Shorts – Dotti

Stockings – Can’t remember

Beanie – The Warehouse

Boots – Thrifted

Summer Memories

I have another little montage video for you guys! I always have fun editing these together. Plus, I have a habit of taking lots of little video clips in my day to day life, aided by my 1SE app. This one is all from the last few months though. During the months of summer, we did quite a few road trips, spent heaps of time with family, had lots of milkshakes, and enjoyed the sunshine!

Now that it’s March, we’re leaving summer and entering Autumn. So I wanted to share with you all this little video of what I’ve been up to this past summer!

Some of the moments I showed in the video, I also wrote blog posts about! Visiting the Botanic Gardens, having a picnic at Percy Scenic Reserve, and taking a road trip up to Cape Palliser!

As I begin entering these colder seasons, I pass all the summer vibes over to you guys on the other side of the world. Enjoy it, cause it’ll definitely come back to me at the end of the year! 😛

What’s one of your highlights from the past months?

10×10 Style Challenge (Summer Edition)

To be fair, I have a habit of wearing the same clothes a lot. I just know what works for me. But the point it, I want to try change up how I wear them. I’ve seen Meg do this recently, and she credits Style Bee for first introducing the challenge. The rules aren’t set in stone, you’re allowed to play around.

But basically, over the next 10 days, the outfits I wear should be made up primarily of 10 items I’ve chosen beforehand.

So here are my 10 items.

  • Floral Skater Dress
  • White and Black Striped Singlet
  • Superdry T-Shirt
  • Blue and White Floral Singlet
  • Dark Blue Light Sweatshirt
  • Grey Cardigan
  • Black Harem Pants
  • Blue Denim Shorts
  • Black Open Toe Flats
  • Yellow Sandals

Over the next 10 days, I’m going to style a different outfit. That’s the goal anyway. As I’m still in summer, I’ve chosen lots of light layers and shorter items.

I’ve tried to pick different colours and patterns, mixing favourite items with some versatile ones. I think I’ll do good with these. Well we’ll try anyway. At the end of 10 days, I’ll share the outfits that I came up with.

Have you guys done a challenge like this before?

Favourite Summer Outfits

The weather has been lovely lately, and I’ve found myself wearing particular outfits more than others. They’re basically all dresses or playsuits. Outfits where I don’t have to worry about a top or a bottom, as they’re just one! So it’s kind of cheating calling these outfits actually, but I still love them.

Here we go!

Outfit #1 – Brave Soul Playsuit

I love this so much, that I even made an OOTD post for it. Since then, I’ve been wearing this a lot, and it’s been perfect for the warmer days. It’s also incredibly comfy! Plus, the design of the birds, and the navy blue colour just make it even better for me.

Outfit #2 – Blue Patterns Dress

I went through a period where I hated dresses and skirts in general. This was in highschool, and most of uni. I would only wear jeans and sweaters basically. Even in summer. However, when I started an office job, I started loving wearing more ‘girly’ things. Since then, the love has grown. I found this in a thrift shop. I’m a sucker for patterns, and the colour blue. The dress is made of thin, floaty material, and it’s perfect for hot summer days.

Outfit #3 – White Floral Dress

Another thrift shop find! This is a similar shape to the previous dress. However, it’s a lot more floaty. I like spinning in it. But not too much, or I’ll accidentally flash my underwear. Also, this dress has pockets! That alone made my buy it. I can put my phone in my pocket and it weighs down the skirt on windy days so it doesn’t fly everywhere. Again, I’m a sucker for patterns, and the blue/white colour combo is a classic.

Throughout this summer, I basically lived in these three outfits. Especially during the holidays! They are all perfect to be worn all day, and I feel like they can be casual or dressed up. Also, in the evenings, when it gets a little cooler, I can just throw on a faithful cardigan and keep going!

What’s an outfit you’ve been loving lately?’

Summer Picnics

Having a picnic is always on the plan for summer. It’s just nice to eat food outside, surrounded by nature.  So that’s what we did, one beautiful Sunday afternoon.

We set our sights on Percy Scenic Reserve. It’s a fairly popular spot, and it has some little tracks you can walk, as well as lots of grassy areas to sit down and have a picnic. It’s also nostalgic for us, as this was where we took our portrait photos for the wedding!

Starting off, with a quick car selfie. I put in contacts so I could wear my sunglasses for a change!

We picked the spot, where we did our first look photos almost a year ago!

Now we get to the food. We have a picnic basket which we bought two years ago. Funnily enough, it was at Rory’s insistence we bought it. Because he was planning to propose, and wanted the picnic to have all the bells and whistles. The basket is perfect for two people.

We didn’t get too fancy with our meal. We made sandwiches, and bought some finger food, fruit and drinks to throw in the basket as well.

This was just after New Years, so I brought along some of the cookies I had made as well!

duck pond

After we’d eaten our fill, we rested, chatted and people watched for a bit. Then we went for a wander. We spotted a duck pond nearby. The ducks made a beeline for us, but then ignored us when they realized we didn’t have food for them.

track

We also wandered down the waterfall track. It’s a fairly easy track, all flat, leading through lots of little rivers, creeks, bushes and trees.

Taking a selfie with sunglasses cause it’s that bright!

It was a nice way to spend time after the picnic.

Finally, we made our way to the waterfall. It’s very pretty, and there were lots of people milling about. I managed to snap a photo of the waterfall without any of the people in it though!

That’s all for this post! Have you guys gone for a picnic lately?

Summer Flowers

We went to the Botanic Gardens recently, and I brought along my camera. I love taking pictures of nature and scenery! There were so many flowers everywhere, I got very excited in photographing everything. I have split my photos into two posts as I thought it worked better that way.

This post will be sharing my favourite flower photos I took. Tomorrow, I’ll share some general ones I took at the gardens.

You know, it’s crazy how nature is designed. Flowers come in so many different shapes. I like how different the petals are with each flower.

While exploring the rose garden, I kept coming across bumblebees doing their thing. I wanted to take closer photos of them, but I was too scared to get any closer.

The different colours and types of flowers entertained me for aaages. The cafe is nearby, so after we ordered, I headed out to take photos. Rory had to text me to remind me to come back for food. After eating, we headed back out and I was back to taking photos!

We went inside the Begonia House, which has more tropical displays as it’s in a temperature controlled room. There were all sorts of amazing looking plants there.

At the end of the Begonia House was a lily ponds with lots of aquatic plants. I really loved this one purple flower.

Finally, we wandered around the rest of the gardens. Here’s a few more of my favourite photos to wrap up this post!

That’s all the photos! There were way more, but I liked these the most. I think the photos came out really nice. I don’t know if there’s a proper way to take photos of flowers, but I had a lot of fun!

A Summer Christmas

It still tickles me every time I get a comment from one of my lovely friends on the other side of the world stating “I can’t imagine a summer Christmas”. So, I thought a post like this would be fun. Sharing with you all what a typical summer christmas for me looks like.

I shared the food aspect in my post yesterday, so I thought I’d talk about some outdoor activities we might do during the Christmas holidays. We also sometimes watch a movie, or play games, but with the sun shining outside, you can bet that we’ll head out.

Go to the beach

Go for a day trip somewhere

Go to the park

Mini-Golf

Cherry-Picking

Since it’s summer and the family is all-together, we do like to wander around outside in the sunshine. Basically, we do regular summer activities, but it’s at Christmas time. Easy enough to wrap your head around right? 😛

What’s one of your typical activities you do during the festive season?

Hello Summer!

Summer is officially here in New Zealand, or at least in Wellington. We’ve had a week of sunny weather, even getting as high as 26 degrees! For us, that’s almost unthinkable. Last year, our summer lasted a few days then it just forgot us, so I think the weather is making up for it now.

In celebration of summer, I went for a walk down Oriental Parade, a popular spot in summer, as it has a very pretty beach in the centre of town.

Around the waterfront, we have lots of Pohutukawa trees lining the streets and many paths. It looks especially lovely when they’re all in bloom in summer.

There’s lots of paths heading in different directions. Everything just looks really good in the sunshine.

I really enjoyed walking around. As did lots of others. The close I got to the beach, the more crowded it became. We’re having a hotter summer earlier this year than we have in a while. Everyone was taking advantage after work.

Wellingtonians are all soaking up the sunshine! Also, to the right of the photo, you may be able to spot a crocodile bike. After all this, I was getting too tired in the sun, so I stopped by one of my favourite cafes.

Summer is well and truly arrived down here and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

I hope you guys enjoyed going for a little walk with me down here in Wellington! 😀
