Favourite Dresses

The ever amazing Cheila recently did her own Shoe Collection post, and then she said she was considering doing a post about her favourite dresses, and asked me to join her. I, of course, immediately said yes. So here we are 😀

So I only have six dresses at the moment. I used to have more, but I have decluttered recently. I don’t wear dresses often, I normally wear pants or skirts. But during summer, I love to wear dresses. Course it’s winter at the moment, so I don’t wear any of these which is a bummer. A few of them got a lot of use back in Fiji. Anyway, enough rambling. Here are my favourite (and only!) dresses.

The Graduation Dress

The dress is hidden under all the ceremony garb in the end

The longest dress I’ve had so far. I bought this in mid 2013, when my graduation for completing my Bachelor of Music was coming up. At this point I had no dresses, and wanted something nice for said graduation. I bought this cute blue dress for $25 from Glassons. I loved the little touches of designs with the lace around the neck and shoulders. It’s also blue which is one of my most favourite colours. The skirt is really light and floaty, which is good, but also bad as one breeze blows it right up (Wellington gets real windy). I still love the dress though.

The Crazy Pattern Dress

Dec.18.2013 Still the Ans

This is the another older dress  I currently own, I bought it back at the tail end of 2013. I got it from Temt for $20, I think. I wanted a knee length dress that I could wear everyday. I like the crazy zig zag patterns everywhere, and the style of the buttons on the front (they’re only display ones though). The skirt is layered which gives it a unique look as well. Also, the dress has pockets, which is a major bonus! I have worn it a lot in summer.

The Black Floral Maxi Dress

I don’t wear this as much, as it’s more low cut than everything else I wear. It’s more something I wear to the beach (when I actually go 😂), and it got a lot of use in Fiji! I have a bathing suit (black with floral design) that matches the dress, so I like to wear them together. Then when I want to swim I just whip the dress off and run into the water.

The Polka Dot Maxi Dress

This showed up in my Closet Confidential Tag, as the most expensive item. I bought it on a whim from Portmans. It was around the $120 mark I think, I can’t exactly remember. But I really liked it. It’s not quite a full length maxi, it’s more 3/4 length, but it’s really soft and floaty, but as it’s long it’s heavier and can’t fly into the air when the wind picks up. It does dip a little (a lot) low in the front (I pulled it up for the photo), but I’m planning to shorten the straps and that should be an easy fix.

The Blue Mirrou Dress

I got this dress a few months back from Mirrou. I think it only cost me $15. It’s the first and only maxi dress I have that didn’t need to be altered in any way. It’s got lots of patterns going all the way down. It’s also a nice light blue colour, I’m very fond of blue as you might know. It has little splits on each side from the mid calf which you can kind of see in the picture. It’s a very light dress, and it feels really nice too. I wore this a lot in Fiji.

The Elephant Dress

Again, this was in the Closet Confidential tag as the item I was most looking forward to wearing. I bought this at the same time as the previous dress, and it was also $15. I love the elephant dress, it’s got a ‘bohemian’ feel to it. The dress was miles too long for me, I but I hemmed it and now it’s perfect. It also has that calf split, and the dress material is again light and goes ‘woosh’ when I walk. I can’t wait to wear it more when the weather gets better 😀

Oh hey, I guess there is one more dress that I forgot to count.

The Wedding Dress

Cause that beautiful dress now permanently lives in my room, and I don’t know what to do with it, beyond stare at it, and touch it all the time  😂

So that was my favourite dresses post! This was quite fun to do, and I had fun wearing all the dresses again as I haven’t in a while! Let me know which dress you liked, or if you have any similar ones! Also, if you want to share your own favourite dresses, please do! And tag Cheila and I so we can see them too 😀

  1. I love dresses. I have a beautiful light blue dress with white on it. It is so beautiful that you don’t even need a necklace to wear with it. It was the same dress I wore to Duke Chapel on Sunday. Another dress happens to be my pink dress with white flowers and that was my Easter dress.

Your dresses are beautiful by the way.

    1. Thank you! I love both dresses too 😀
I haven’t been able to wear dresses at all recently since it’s winter, but hopefully over the coming months the weather will get warmer and I can get these dresses out 🙂
